My fathers. 2001 gs has abs 2, have a problem with back break seizing . Has braided lines on it too. It's like the pump is holding pressure.

Any ideas? Thanks , David

ABS II is a cylinder with a plunger

When the wheel deceleration rate crosses a threshold the system engages an electromechanical clutch to pull a plunger back a little and release the brake pressure momentarily and repeatedly

I can't just see how this system would do anything to hold pressure on

If you had the old pipe work they used to de laminate inside and it acted like a one way valve "flap" and held the rear brake on

I think I heard someone mention recently their Braided line had done the same but its still pretty unheard of if you turn the pipe around basically you will not get any flow and the pedal will be hard

Possibly the rear caliper is seized. They can stick on the rods the two halves of the caliper slide on. Put your foot against the caliper, hold the bike subframe/pannier rails and push the caliper with your foot, this should spread open the caliper so the pads aren't touching the disc. If it's very hard to move or doesn't move at all the caliper is seized.

Had a good look at the bike this evening, caliper is free , took mastercylinder off and the base of it inside the rubber boot is very badly corroded. It was so bad the circlip has fused itself it the body . Got it all apart and it seems ok inside though. U can't blow air in from reservoir entry tube , I'm guessing mastercylinder is busted?
