was out on my gsa today and under hardish acceleration it started to judder and not accelerate.

have fuel, engine wasn't to hot, no warning lights ect any one no what the hells going on??

only got it today aswell!

on the rare occasion that i get on an open A road and can do a constant high ish speed for a few miles (70 or above), on several occasions I have noticed the same if I wind it right open, hesitation then eventual power up

if you search this place you will find debates on the fuelling system which operates in different loop modes for changing or constant throttle and also comments on software, lambda sensors and throttle pot's (plus the infamous TPS reset trick)

could be any of these or maybe none, not much help maybe but you are not alone, at least you have a warranty! i just call it character!

what rpm were you at or doesn't it matter

is at about 4000-5000 revs all through the gears except 1st i think

and yeah its under warranty as approved used from the deelership i was just wondering if anyone knew what the problem was so i could go in with some background

4000-5000 is the natural flat spot of these engines but it definitely shouldn't be anywhere near what your describing. I would head back to the dealer and see what they say. Let us know what it is so it can be added to the diagnostics list for people without a warranty :thumb2

its deffo a massive flat spot as in dangerous to overtake coz i dont wanna start an get screwed half way through!

am gonna head back to the dealer tomorrow and let people know what the outcome is!

Hi what year is the bike and what miles?
If twin-cam, it is worth getting cam-timing checked by dealer. Mine was out when it was new, but perfect since this re-setting was done. bin.

its 2008 with 19k on the clock.

ill mention it too them cheers.

I will bang the "Broken Coil" drum again.

Search for other posts on how to check which one has broken or if you are under warantee take it in for them to check and change.

2008 rules out the cam timing issue. Coils are next as Alex said...

have taken it back to the dealership they also thought the coil but apparently they r fine and they hooked it up and can find no fault on the system, but agree there is a problem as the guy took it out on a test drive so have left it there for them to find out what the problems are.... bit of a complete shitter but hey they have given me a brand new bmw k1300r to play with while they fix it!!! :)

ill let you know what the problems are when i find out!

Fit replacement spark plugs.

Cheap enough to do, might not fix it, but if it ain't the coils.........:nenau

Update

The BMW dealership has no sodding idea what is up with this bike, and are now having to contact BMW for testing. And as I just spent £10,000 on this bike to ride it for 1 day for it to fail on me... I'm severely tempted to tell them to ram it up there ass and get a different one

FUCK!!!!!!

Tell them to keep it, I would. Things can and do go wrong but when you have only just got it and they don't know how to fix it then its a money back job IMHO

I'm fuckin tempted to be honest as the plan for this bike is to go round Mongolia and every where in-between I need it to be reliable

Bike

Best plan tell them to park it where the sun don't shine! mention sale of goods act.

I've had a 1200 for 5 years and done 64k km, no major problems, but even a flat battery will make you stranded where ever you are at the time. IMHO they are to many silly possibilities for these things to leave you scratching your head at the side of the road to consider them "mongolia" material.

Frankly they are great bikes when you are in the UK and have AA, RAC, Carol nash etc. etc. but I live in malaysia and a breakdown that cant be fixed at the side of the raod is scary. With these bikes very little can be done at the side of the road without special tools.

They simply aint the go anywhere bikes they claim to be. They are go anywhere "with correct back up". Just ask Charly and Ewan....
