Accelerator Module

Not perfect

Been noticing in this really hot weather (25 - 30degC) that the bike has been not quite so well behaved. Particularly just after start up, the bike has been surging quite bad on the overrun. Even when warmed up it wasn't quite as good as it normally is. I'm used to a slight surge on the overrun, I think its when the fuel is switched off for emissions regs.

So decided today to ride to work without the Accelerator Module. Well its a different bike. Yes, slightly less low down torque, but a much smoother transition to closed throttle and a consistent feeling on overrun. All in all an easier bike to ride.

I therefore suspect that the Mk1 has its limitations in the hot weather. As I'm off touring on the continent in a few weeks, its not going back in.

For the record, my bike is a '57 GSA, Remus Headers, Remus can with bung in.

hot weather

maybe I am being a bit thick ( not unusual) but I have one of these fitted and I believe it makes my bike better, smother and easier to ride with a lot less surging. I was recently riding in Europe in upto 44 degrees and my bike performed very well 180miles to each tankful 2 up fully loaded, I was very happy with it, now then someone who looked into this stated that all the mod did was fool the bikes ECU into thinking that it was colder than it actually was, so it put in more fuel, hence it not working as well when it was cold, so should it not work better the hotter the weather or am I missing important technical points

From what I've read I understand that the offset is less the colder the temperature... so I'd say more benefit the warmer it is

if you are getting 1.8mpg MORE with the module then it stands that more bore washing is occuring on standard bikes!

:rob
Bore wash usually means a condition where your fuel injection is so far out of whack that there is way too much fuel going in relative to the amount of intake air.

What happens is that naturally when the piston goes up and down, it drags some oil with it and that lubricates the bore against the piston.

Bore wash is when you have to much excess fuel that it "washes" the oil off the bore walls and so you get somewhat increased wear.

The symptoms can be easy to spot.
1.Excessive black sooty deposits at the exhaust exit.
2.Premature blackening of the sump oil.
3.Sump oil smelling of petrol (sniff the filler cap).

However, the most accurate way of determining whether your bike is excessively over-fuelling, is to run it on a Dyno and look at the fuelling results.

I have now clocked up over 8000miles with the Accelerator Mod fitted (inc. 4000miles with the Mk2 Mod).

My bike is running beautifully, and with none of the above symptoms. :bow

Has anyone done more miles with a Mod fitted than me?? Come on let us know.:thumb2

I've been using the module for 1k km's. My bike is 2009 GS, mk2 with a Boss slip-on and a K&N filter.

I have the extended version mounted.

Initially, I positioned the temperature probe under the beak. The outcome was not good. It magnified the slight hesitation of the throttle which I meant to cure with the module.

Then I positioned the probe under the seat. Now the bike has a smoother throttle response. But with a side affect of slightly annoying buzz on the pegs above 4k rpms.

Also my mpg went down %5.

techno blurb...!!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum:thumb

You can buy the module for your F8 here http://www.sol2.be/Accelerator/English/index.html#

For hot climates like Greese, I would get the extended version.

Cheers

I have been running my module for a while now.

I have come across one problem.

I have to turn the traction control off, as when ridden spiritedly, the front wheel comes off the ground an awfull lot :JB

Yes, a very light front wheel, with a tendancy to elevate frequently,
seems to be a strange by-product of fitting one of these simple devices.

accelerator module

Has anybody tried to order one of the modules recently? I am trying to order but Paypal has blocked the payment. I was wondering if all was well with the company before I try another method of payment.

Hi Merv.
Thanks for that. I have been in touch with Marc and he has suggested he sends Paypal a request for the money. It may work that way.
