Accelerator Module

I've been looking and searching but can't seem to find info on a test of the Accelerator module on a 2010 bike.

Any info?

I was speaking to a 2010 RT owner and he said that the new bike was much smoother, with no snatching, than the older model he had, so maybe BM have sorted the problem with the new engine. A few posts ago, Giles Lamb was saying he was fitting one to his 2010 GS. You maybe could email him and see what he has found.
Must get mine ordered now I am back from my delayed break.

I love it on my 1200GS -10 and on my HP2e -06.
Smooth, strong, excellent low power pickup!

Thanks, good to hear. I will get mine fitted though with the weather at the moment it will be a while till I get to try it out:augie

I'm teetering on getting a Power Commander and custom map. Lot of dosh though. I have a 2004 GS. The question is how much will it improve it? I've been riding 4 cylinders just before getting the GS and I'm not sure what to expect. My GS is quite rough below 3000 rpm if I use anything but the tinyest throttle. I know twins will be rougher at low revs as I had a carb fed V-Twin in the past but that was a little better than the GS. The lumpyness didn't seem so tightly couple to the throttle more to revs hence I'm wondering if it's a fuelling issue with the GS?

Fitting an Accelerator could improve your fuelling. Or your problem might be caused by something else like Throttle synchronisation etc.
But for the sake of 30 quid, its worth trying one.

Mind you, these devices are only really effective at air temperatures above freezing.

Accelerometer

Guys,
i have read all 35+ pages and have decided to buy one for my 2005 K1200R which is a 4 cylinder bike and will give you feedback on how it goes on a different bike. Ordered last week so expect it in the next week.

I ordered the extended one so it might provide a different answer to a similar problem with all newer bikes that are complying with EU emission standards. Ideally I should experience the same results todate.

Its been interesting reading and in summer in Australia it is usually 30+ degrees every day so it will be interesting what the results are?

David

Yep, sure, go ahead! I want to know. And people from UK have always the option traveling over to the continent, should they want to see what's 30 C like. :D

accelerator

guys
Have just removed an accelerator from my 2010 gs as although it was smoother I found the fuel consumption dropped from around 200 to 180 per tank. our riding has been on country lanes, no long trips recently, where you are off and on the throttle constantly. Guess it depends on the kind of riding you do ?

I have finally been able to go riding on my K1200R since installing the Accelerator module with Temperature probe, my thoughts.

There was not as much surging at 3500 rpm and the bike seemed more tractable. The bike seems to have more pulling power and I now find myself in the next higher gear and having what seems like the same throttle response as I had with a lower gear before. This has resulted in me going into corners with the higher gear but not noticing any difference coming out on the trottle. Even up moderate hills there has been no need to change down.

Spirited riding on a steep circuit having 59 corners in 29 kilometer up to 700 metres high and riding in 3rd and 4th was exhilarating, but it seemed to have less engine braking when backing of the throttle into a corner requiring use of the brakes, but I may have been going faster into the corners?

My fuel use on mountain roads and valley runs has appeared to be about 5 litres per hundred kilometers where as before it was about 5.4 litres per 100 kilometers but this has only been on two stints of 250 kilometers. mainly done in 4th and 5th gear.

Installation was easy with the only difficult being to get the clip to release from the airbox but having the same plug to look at made it much easier.

I will be going on a long ride at the end of the month and that will give me a better idea of fuel use.

Just my experience on a different bike to the GS which appears to have been of benefit and I have no hesitation in recommending it as the best $ 50 you could spend.

Its interesting to hear feedback from those that have fitted it to totally different bikes (as in high performance 4cylinder engine) as opposed to our old Boxers. Sound like the same benefits apply, regardless of machine.

Hummm...i wonder if Mav does one for the S1000RR:mmmm

Man o Man, 35 pages, but

Guys, whether I buy the AM or Jens' triple priced equivalent, is there anyway I can stop the wheely thing?

I actually don't want to get into that predicament. I just want the smooth riding and acceleration.
Is this a problem only for those that ride with the traction off? Or is it specific to the accelerator module only, and NOT on powerplug ? Answers in plain english please. 35 pages of forum reading has done me in! lol:)

Don't worry, the AC mod wont turn your GS into stunt bike.
It just makes wheelies easier to perform by those that like doing them.:augie

What it does do though, is give you smooth and progressive throttle control, right from tickover.:clap
And significantly improves low speed smoothness.

awesome then. Job done

Thanks Yonko for the simple answer. I Guess if i knew how to wheelie confidently and intentionally I might do it more often, intentionally! lol,.

:MotomartinBut i just want the smoothness, so i guess its up to me to be gentle...well, gentle ish.
Thanks again.

just ordered the standard version. too much gumf on temp etc. 30 euros...cant go wrong. Thanks guys. Will let you know what i find...
