I've just acquired a can of ACF-50 after reading the thoughts and praises of other members of this forum.

Where are the best places to spray this on my 1100? I guess it's better to do when it's just been cleaned, how much do you spray on, just a misting or a heavy dose? Do you leave it once sprayed or does it need to be rubbed in (i.e. on chrome wheels)?

I spray some into a cup and use a rag to apply to the wheels. I spray it everywhere else. The stuff is murder on brake discs so be careful not to get any on and drive around the block a couple of time to make sure the brakes work! I let the bike run for about five minutes as it will smoke from any accidental spray on the exhaust and anything hot. Great stuff. Called the guys at ACF50 and the most important thing is to give the bike a rinse cold water after you have used it. I give it a light wash every couple of weeks to get some of the main crud off and respray where necessary. I added a mudslinger thing from Val on the back wheel and that made a big difference in keep crap off the bike (I have a 1200GS). Main clean in a couple of weeks.

Not on the Discs/exhaust ;)

I take the tank off and give the workings and all of the electrical connectors under there a coating, also the gubbins plate under the fuel tank, apply to wheels using a paintbrush.

I bought a spray pump from Homebase.

Dispense the ACF-50 into the pump and pressurise it a little. Put the pump into a bucket of hot water to allow the ACF-50 to flow better. I boil a kettle and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Increase the pump pressure and spray over the parts to get treated. I gives off a fine mist.

This also takes up time allowing for a quick brew up:thumb

Thanks for that link, very informative. Thanks too to all that have posted replies, I now have a much better idea of what it is I'm doing and how to apply it.

In the article it doesn't say if the ACF-50 is completely burnt off if sprayed or applied to the engine. I'm assuming the fact that it will smoke when started is the ACF50 being burnt off, but does it burn it all off or does it as the article implies, leave an "ultra thin" film over the engine? Has anyone any experience of this?

I think some remains as water beads of the engine very nicely when I wash mine.
