I have bought an active rider plus 200 and a kenwood tk3201 and a ptt switch.

so a couple of questions.

Will the autocom unit power the kenwood radio?

If not is there anyway of hardwiring the kenwood radio to a bike switched live?

Will i need to purchase a lead to connect the kenwood radio to the ptt lead as far as i am aware the ptt lead plugs into the grey aux 4 lead on the autocom

thanks

Yes there is. ring up the guys at autocom and they'll tell you exactly the bit you need.

I did this for both a tk3201 and 3101 radio without any issues whatsoever.

This is strange as we phoned autocom and they said you couldnt bike power the radio through the autocom. we would have to use the battery pack supplied with the radio

The Active Plus does not have the extra parts like the Super Pro to bike power the Kenwoods, if the Kenwoods were to be powered you run the chance of blowing the Active and this will not be covered under any warranty.

interesting. ask them how they did it to mine and my missus bike then?

on one radio they had a full replacement 'battery' pack, and the other the battery was removed and a cable 'hardwired' into the radio and then stuck down with sticky stuff.

it is strange.
I think if i get a part that replaces the battery pack with the grey autocom plug on it it will work. Maybe its worth a try. i wonder what bit it is missing compared to the 300?

A high-capacity heat-sink to cope with extra current demand of the radio? The Autocom brochure does say that part 1402 (Powered interface) is only for use with the Super-Pro (Kit 300).

Them as in us here? I serioulsy doubt that we would bike power some Kenwoods via our Active Plus's some how mate!!!
