Has anybody else had this crop up:
1150 Adventure, Annual Service with just over 24,000 miles on the clock.
Replace pinion radial seal
Replace both bearings on rear wheel drive
Replace clutch slave cyclinder

Just curious

I had to have some seals replaced at 24k - one was a pinion radial seal and the other was a radial shaft seal.

The bike is a 2000 R1150GS and it was 4 years old at the time.

No issues with bearing or clutch then or 2 years later at the 36k service.

My GS 1150 Adv clutch slave cylinder failed terminally at the 2004 Lahinch event.

Only 3000 miles on the clock then....replaced smartly under warranty by Joe Duffy's in Dublin.

Some similiar early failures had been heard of ... they said.

Which one is the pinion radial seal?.
Common for drive big bearing to go.Not so the taper roller bearing. Was there a lot of play in the rear wheel?.
Were you having problems with the clutch.Pumping it to work, leaking etc.?

Colban,
Not sure on pinion radial seal, it was quoted on invoice.
The play in the rear wheel was just starting and as annual service it needed doing with trips coming up.
As for clutch had no real problems until a trip through Alps were it started to slip and cause a few moments. Got it sorted locally to get home.
Mentioned at service and hey ho it needs replacing.

Were the extras warranty work, or the customer picks up the tab work.
