Africa Twin is coming

Probably can, but I think 'they' will still look for more money once it's wheels hit the UK in either import duty, vat, type approval or whatever they can dream up to make it harder/more expensive. Otherwise everybody would be doing it like they were 15 odd years ago.

Nope...can't do that...that "useless" organisation called the EU means that motor vehicles are type approved for Europe and there are no import duties. What's more, it is illegal to refuse to sell a product based on country of origin assuming you are resident somewhere in the EU. That of course assumes we are still in the EU!

Unless you're touratech.

Retail price confirmed at £9 to £12k depending on specification. Mine arrives 1st Jan 2016.

Confirmed by who ? MCN ? That was their guess, and it is only a guess. There's no price on Honda UK website, I've emailed them about the prices and as yet, no answer. I was in with my dealer today and they still are in the dark.

Curious did you decide on a 6-speed or DCT? I assume both come with ABS there. I'm pondering pondering one to replace my old DR650 and I prefer 6-speed w/ABS but not sure Honda NA will import this version.

Just had this reply from Honda UK.

Thank you for contacting Honda UK and for your interest in the Africa Twin.

I have contacted our Head Office’s Customer Relations manager, who spoke with our motorcycle division regarding your enquiry. I was advised that the expected release window is the end of 2015 beginning of 2016.

I am sure that a more exact release date and price will be made available in the coming months. I apologize for any distress and/or inconvenience we may have caused you and I kindly ask you for your patience as we prepare for the release of the Honda Africa Twin and many other Honda products this year.

Rest assured that as soon as the information is released by our Head Office to the public you will receive a notification by our “Keep me posted/register for details” section.

Thank you for contacting Honda. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Already sent a terse reply about disrespecting their customers when European customers at least know how much they'll be forking out.

What an utter load of drivel.

The bike is ready, orders have been placed yet noone knows when or how much

You have too much time on your hands, chillaxe:aidan

It's what we retired folk do.......:aidan

Now, it took them a week to give me the above reply. My terse response.....this came within hours !!!!

I have brought your experience and enquiry to the attention of our Head Office’s Customer Relations team, who will investigate, look into the situation and contact you within the next five business days to offer the best possible resolution and advise further on the release and pricing of the Africa Twin.

I don't for one minute expect to be told any secret/inside info and guess I'll get the usual fob off. Still, not like I have anything else to do...:D

....good to see you've got the right expectation.

Some poor sod in customer services will now be given the task of making you feel valued without using the words ' we will launch it when we (not you) are fucking ready, and at the price point we feel is right for the UK and is compliant with any fucking compliant things, all right Wank face'

I expect it will be some intern who will discuss it with his/her mates, parents etc.... And this is how seed that will become the reality that new AT owners Are grade A Thrush's was sown before it was even released. :D :D

This is why I could never work in a customer relations role. Telling a customer to 'get a fucking life' would probably not be the image a company would wish to portray.

Say what you want, boys. Honda have dragged out this whole launch affair and the UK arm aren't helping either. I signed up, as many did, to their 'keep informed' page and got nothing from them. The U.S. and Canadian sites released more info and they aren't getting the new AT until later next year. Still, at least I've been able to pass on the moaning baton to a few on here now. :P

You should have kept the KTM

At 93bhp it's Nowt to get excited about

The KTM 1050 is very similar in terms of weight & bhp - so why did you buy the 1190?

Your balloon has been pricked :)

Can't see you keeping as long as you kept the 1190 - which wasn't long

The AT is over hyped & the f800gs will prove to beat it in a shoot out I reckon

Honda have flopped & it ain't launched yet

How do you know that then?

I don't ....just a hunch :)

A few bods will rush out & spunk £11k on it because it's the emperor 's new clothes

Realise it's just another parallel twin & hasn't lived up to the hype (remember vfr1200?)

Then realise that a f800gs is better parallel twin at £2k cheaper or the 1050 KTM is a proper Vtwin (in the spirit of the original AT) and again £2k cheaper

I am failing to see anything radical in the new AT whatsoever - all the other manufacturers have already done it & have been for the last 2-5 years

The new AT has sucked a few in, just to have their ego's stroked because it's a new model to be seen riding & that is the square root of it - vanity
