Hi

My yearly trip across the UK and on to continental Europe kicks off in a few weeks, and I'm contemplating buying an Airhawk.

I have a 2014 LC which I picked up in Jan. The last 2 years I made the trip on a Triumph Tiger 1050 and didn't have a Airhawk.

We will be doing about 2500 miles in 9 days and my mates on various bikes all have Airhawks. So as I hadn't covered that type of milage on the LC before I'm considering buying an Airhawk just in case I need it.

Can anyone with a LC share what Airhawk fits the LC seat the best?

Thank you

I have a "Air Hawk 2" that i use for long trips on my 2014 GSA fits ok and does the job :thumby:

I use the medium cruiser airhawk on longer trips got it for my k1300 but it fits the LC fine! Did 3600 miles in 12 days on the k1300 with it.

I have the medium cruiser on my TC, they'll fit a range of bikes, it was also good for an old vfr800fi, so unless the WC seat is massively different (several inches) in width/length then you'll have no issue.

Borrowed one from a friend for a 2000m euro trip last year, unimpressed, still suffered terminal arse-ache also gave a slightly detached feeling with the bike as you float above the seat. Take the pain and save yourself some money. No doubt many will convince you of its benefits but didn't work for me.

Worked for me on the XT660r. Doing 55,000km around AUS last year it certainly helped. Make sure you have just the right amount of air in it and you'll be fine. I was given the large cruiser size which is a bit big for the seat, this now makes it feel more of a sofa. I've had a couple of punctures due to giving it a hard life (catching the air pods with my boots when getting my leg over) but the repair kit supplied has been adequate.

Airhawk

I got the adventure version for the gs wc, did 1850 miles, never used one before,
Did the job, no issues, soon got used to how little air needed,
It's smaller at the front, to avoid crushed nuts. Apparently

Too much pressure in the Airhawk gives that feeling, they work best at the lowest pressure you can get away with.

If you can feel your buttocks against the seat edges when you rock from edge to edge you've got the air level right.

I've got the new Airhawk R, having previously spent 3 months on the AirHawk 2. Bloody brilliant piece of kit. The most notable thing to remember is to put barely any air into it, otherwise it's just just like sitting on a balloon...

I think the Dual Sport version is best for a GS. Doesn't hang over the front edges of the seat leaving you further to reach the floor.:thumb

Couldn't agree more. I was somewhat unimpressed the first few times I used mine despite trial and error deflating it far more than I thought necessary. I just couldn't get comfy or do any more miles than without it.

Last weekend I did a 900 mile round trip to Caen so gave it another go, and after letting just a tad more air out it was a revelation. It's far from ideal that it requires such precise inflation but as long as you stick with it I think they are well worth the money. Before getting the AirHawk my backside was calling time at as little as 150 miles.

Now I just need to sort my knees and back. :blast

That's the one I got the DS, it's contoured to the gs seat and keeps it narrow and it's shorter the cruiser my mate had was a bit long, it is neoprene so more expensive but worth it for the fit on the bike and extended comfort,
