Hi all,

I'm planning a trip to Morocco next October, and I want to pass in the Ait Bougomez valley. I did try last year (in february) but it was impossible to pass because of the ice and snow...

Can someone tell me if the road to Amezri is tarmac or piste?

I had to look on Google maps to find Amezri.

I don't know the answer, but it's not the normal route; you are getting uncomfortably close to the M'goun massif. Generally people enter the Bougmez valley via Demnate, Azilal or from the east.

I'm planning to reach the valley trough Azilal - Ait-Mhammed and sleep at the Ecolodge Dar Itrane in Imelghas after Tabant. Do you know the place? It's tarmac road or piste?

After that I want to sleep at Kasbah Itran trough Demnate R307 road. Do you think it's possible to do it in one day?

Azilal to Ait M'hamed and then on to the western end of the Bougmez Valley is all tarmac, see http://www.morocco-knowledgebase.net/forum/showthread.php?t=233

Dar Itrane is then to the west and I seem to remember the tarmac changes to piste just beforehand. The first few pics on the next link are the general area, http://www.morocco-knowledgebase.net/forum/showthread.php?t=230

There's a piste linkl between Tabant and Demnate, see http://www.morocco-knowledgebase.net/forum/showthread.php?t=201

The all-tarmac alternative is back to Azilal and then round to Demnate. Head out of Demnate to Imi n'Ifri where the R307 starts. Yes, doable in one longish day. Pics in this link are doing the route in the other direction, http://www.morocco-knowledgebase.net/forum/showthread.php?t=231
