I am looking to buy an All In One Printer and wondered if anyone had any recommendations ?
It will not get a huge amount of use, but I would prefer a model that has reasonable size Ink Cartridges, (as a 7ml cartridge is not much cheaper than a 35ml catridge)
Most of the printing would be letters, some Photo's and the occassional Instruction manual (as they all appear to be paperless these days )

Thanks, any help appreciated :mmmm

Piggers, I bought an HP 2410 Printer/Scanner/Photocopier/Fax last year and it has performed faultlessly since, prior to that I had an Epson which was shite, I would recommend HP and that comes from someone that works for IBM...

Lexmark I don`t what size cartradges it uses but it does everything at warp speed. One touch copy/scan etc.

Lexmark P4350 - top class product- prints, scans, copies, PictBridge and reads memorycards for about 99 of your Earth Pounds

I bought an HP psc 2179 which is excellent. It's a relatively old model now, maybe 18 months old, but you may well find one nice and cheap somewhere.
Cheers

Got a HP 6110 officejet,it's really good.

Our local STAPLES has an offer on at the moment for an all-in-one PSC from HP for about £50 IIRC. I have the 1110 model and its excellent, highly recommend it.

Before you buy on the price of the unit itself, look up the price of the replacement cartridges and build that into the equation.

I've got a Brother MFC3420c which I'm very happy with..until I found out that a black cartridge was 15 quid.

That said, thanks to Grumpy Lee's posting of THIS SITE where the same cartridges are only 2 and a half quid, I'm happy again.

I've had HP devices before and theyt're pretty good as well, though I did have driver issues with both (they dropped out and had to be reinstalled from time to time)

I currently have a hp psc 1215 and refill the cartridges myself. However I have been considering a Canon.

Canon makes two versions of its 'entry level' multifunction printer, the PIXMA MP110 and MP130. The only difference I can see between them is that the MP130 has a built in card reader which enables direct printing from media cards. Go to
http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/product_finder/multifunctionals/multifunctionals/index.asp
click on the two printers, then click compare to compare the two printers and see their specifications.

Best price (including delivery) for the MP110 £75.01:

Best price (including delivery) for the MP130 £101.08:

Both of the printers take the same cartridges: BCI-24 Black and BCI-24 Colour. The prices of ink vary widely. Original Canon cartridges can be obtained for round about £5 for black and £10 for colour. At those prices you are probably not going save a lot of money over any other make of printer. Where it gets interesting however, is in the compatible cartridge market where canon cartridges can be obtained very cheaply as they have no print heads unlike other manufacturers who include the print head in the cartridge. For example, when bought in 10's ebuyer.com offer Inkrite compatible black cartridges for £1.23 each and colour for £1.83 each. So a pack of 10 each of colour and black cartridges would cost £35.18 including delivery. Reviews of Inkrite cartridges are generally favourable. A firm called PriceStorm sells 3 each of black and colour cartridges (i.e. 6 carts) for £10.48 including delivery (£8.99 + £1.49).

It is difficult to make a fair comparison of the costs of running one of these printers, however a good contrast is the cost of the ink that I use to fill my hp cartridges (I reckon I waste quite a bit). The colour ink works out at about 18p per ml and the black about 15p per ml. The cost of the ink in the compatible canon cartridges works out at about 11p per ml for the colour and about 13p per ml for the black. I think you can see why I am interested in a canon printer. I think I will probably get one after the summer.

Cheers

I bought a Brother MFC 210C which was going for half price (£60) at PC World.
It works great and has seperate ink cartridges. My previous HP played up and had expensive inks.

Thanks for all the info.
I bought an HP 2355.
I'll let you know how it goes.
