Hi there. I have the Vario panniers on my 2019 GS1250 but I'm looking at some other makes. Any recommendations for other make either soft or hard material. I have thought of BM's own system, as in GSA set but that's a real expensive option. Any info appreciated. Regards Robin.

I have a givi set of hard panniers. Either dolomiti or outback. Can't remember which now but they are decent enough. You do need the givi frame as well but they also do a soft pannier that's also fits the same frame so can have best of both worlds.

Don't recall exact cost but think I had panniers, toolbox and frame new from SBS for around 1k.

I got the Bumot soft ones and will never got back to hard side cases.

Easy to load, don't need to take them off when I leave my tour bases as they weigh nothing, narrower on the bike than hard case, not prone to scratches, won't crack when bike topples over, side pockets, strapping points, not everyone has them.

I have the SW Motech plus the SW Motech sys soft luggage. My soft ones are only 15l as thats what I wanted but they do 30litre I believe

Are there any panniers that will fit on the existing OEM brackets?
Not onto GS brackets as far as I am aware. Any aftermarket system is likely to cost circa £1000, maybe even more.

I think Bumot do panniers that fit GSA pannier frames. So a different setup to GS.

You can get aftermarket options which fit the GSA racks, such as LoneRider & Moskomoto panniers. There are always rack options on ebay from private sellers & breaker yards. The main change between GS>GSA is the footpegs when fitting the racks - so you either need to get the correct footrests or remove them to prevent interference.

LoneRider Rackless will, but be prepared to give up a kidney, a firstborn child and then it's still north of £1k

Their Black Friday event will be on soon if you register for it, saving 20% for one day only.

top box and a roll bag or kreiga pack

there someone needed to say it

bloody panniers look f'in ridiculous
The issue with a top box is its weight high up on the Bike. And you'll not get a top box that has the capacity of 2 panniers, and not look like you've got a kitchen worktop stuck on the back.

Bumot Extremada.
Only on GSA racks, not a GS, on a GS the only non BMW that will go straight on are the LoneRider Rackless Motobags, mind you we could have meandered to GSA's now :) but the OP was talking GS

Thanks for the messages. It's the side loading that's the pain. Fine when you are travelling to a set point to stay but just stopping at the side of the road to get something out without stuff falling out..... That's why I'm thinking of changing.
The SW Motech or the Lone rider look like the way to go. I'm off to bike show in Birmingham so hope to see some options there. Thanks again.
