I'm about to have my servo abs brakes taken off of my 2006 bike. They work fine but I don't like the servo, in fact I bloody hate it. Am I being stupid?

Quite a few 1150 riders (me included) have removed it. Personally I much prefer the non servo brakes.

No. You are a true riding God and I can only dream of having the riding skills to even consider contemplating hitting the open road on my awesome steed without the need for a functioning abs system.
Perhaps you could share the skills and training levels required to reach the dizzy heights of a non abs rider.

Likewise, I have only covered around half a million miles on motorcycles, and am not yet good enough to willingly ride a bike without ABS. Some day I may be, but I doubt it.
On another note altogether: I have a 2005 bike with servo brakes. I love them, and would take a servo bike in preference to a non servo model. The only fault with the system is that they are no longer fully integrated, so the back brake does not operate the front brake. The idiots in BMW removed the function because of crying clueless bastards complaining about it.

my previous BMW was a R850R. 2003 with servo/ABS. it was bloody horrible to ride. I removed the whole lot and fitted Goodrich pipes, and it transformed the bike it was a pleasure to ride. Note. it was the servo that was the problem not the ABS. don't get the 2 confused.

Having started riding in 1966 I have ridden a few bikes without ABS. I currently have one bike with and one without. Whilst I have some sympathy for the argument that rider aids de skill riders and take away from the riding experience I am an advocate of ABS. ABS by it's very nature only gets involved when the situation has become critical. Yes a highly skilled rider may be able to match or even beat the braking performance of an ABS bike without using ABS himself. But, and it is a very big but, we are not all blessed with that level of skill. I, like Myke, would not choose a non ABS bike over one so fitted, just as I would not choose one with drum brakes over one with discs. Early ABS systems were crude and their presence could be felt in normal riding. Modern systems are unobtrusive but are always there for that unexpected emergency.

I think you mean sprung weight, unless your AbS unit was fitted to the wheels! Good argument for ditching the Cat though

Back to the OP; the R1200's have much better servos than earlier bikes in terms of feel/operation. Personally I liked mine, ever so slightly grabby in town traffic (but you soon got used to that) but great when travelling at speed, two up and with luggage, very reassuring.
What I was never happy about was why have them at all in the first place (typical WBM, looking for a solution to a problem that didn't exist) and their potential to go tits up which could be dangerous and would be expensive.
I decided to leave them alone until and if they failed at which point I'd remove the servo. However, ten years down the line when I sold the bike they were still working so never did.
Obviously you'll loose ABS but as much as I like having it, if it's there, that would not be a deal breaker for me.

Putting it another way then.
My 2000 r1150gs has been owed by me since 2006 and doesn't have ABS fitted. In all the years I've owned it I have never longed for or wanted ABS as I've always successfully stopped in any situation I have found myself in. I'm no riding god, but I do tend to ride on the conservative side and adjust my ride according to the road conditions.
Also I don't recall the last car I had without ABS but neither do I recall the last time I had the ABS kick in unless I was trying to make it kick in.
Looking at my Avatar though I should add that the only offs I've had on the GS is when my off road riding ability has fallen short of my ambition.
