Am I the only one here who likes his R1200GS?

It seems so.

Thread after thread after thread on this board, being critical of the quality, the service and so on. It seems to go on and on and on and on.

I love mine. It's an '06 model (which I suppose may explain a lot). But I just want to say that I am so happy with mine. And the service I've had from my dealer (Astle in Grimsby) is first class.

I'm a happy bunny. Am I alone here?

I love my ADV but I hate and I mean HATE BMW they just don't have a clue how to treat people that spend a lot of money on there bikes. ( I don't mean the dealers, I can't we don't have one in Kent)

I like mine - only done just over 400 miles on it (got it 2 weekends ago and last weekend was my wedding anniverary so as you would expect only had 1 and half days on it that weekend!!)
Not had any probs (wouldnt expect it in short time i have had it) few things taking some getting used to after my Varadero
1. Very easy to roll forward off side stand (caught me a few times unawares but i will get used to it)
2. Fuel injection taking some getting used to (any modern bike would be the same)

On a real plus side one thing that is taking some getting used to is the dealer, Rainbow - they prepared it for delivery early, installed the bike and its controls with me, and rang to make sure things were OK after a week - brilliant I never got those simple helpful things from my honda dealer!!

Like you i am chuffed - but the horror stories realy do worry me, wont stop me making the most of my new bike though.

Having had mine for only 3 weeks I am very pleased and can say its the best all round bike I have ever owned.Done approx 1000 miles
It does exactly what I want from it, Top quality build, dealer seems very good and friendly, It is the dogs b******

1150 v 1200.

I've owned an 1150GS, took a 1150Adv for a ride, bought it, the difference was great. A significant imrpovement I would say. Took a 1200GS for a ride, abouth 150miles. Was very impressed, though felt less planted, more nimble and inspired more eventlfull riding. A spirited maching by comparison. Took a 1200GS Adv. for a ride. 850 miles in 24 hours, over a variety of conditions in cold weather. The weather protection on my 1150GS Adv. is better, cold hands on the 1200, the underside of the brush guards are shorter. The screen at night reflects the rear of the console, looks like a warning light. Overall a brilliant machine. However, there is nothing like the difference between the 12Adv and the 12 as there is between the 1150Adv and the 1150. I'm keeping my 1150Adv for a while yet.

Really like it

july 05, 1400 Km, starter switch shorted in the wet, it started when ignition turned on without pressing button - replaced. Occasionallyfind a gear between 5th and 6th gear then it goes ino 6th. That aside no bother, wouldent buy another - will keep this one - really like it.

Thanks, everyone. I was beginning to think I was alone.

Interestingly, as a member of the VW Beetle forum (my cage is an '04 silver TDI Beetle) everyone seems to moan like buggery on there.

The essence of their complaints is the same. Love the car, hate the ethos of the manufacturer.

And again, my Beetle has been faultless and great fun to own.

Love is. . . .

I love mine, and the only thing that concerns me about it is this forum.

When you get this many people together you're bound to hear about problems, you'd find the same anywhere.

My experience of BMW as delivered through my local dealership - North Oxford Garage is first class.

Matt Tilsley the service manager is always extremely helpful and willing - the coffee is also good!!!

Take more than a few moaning old tossers to get me off mine.

Mine is by far the best bike I've ever owned - I bought it second hand at the beginning of the year, and have added 11,000 miles to since then.

I love that it can do 0-60 faster than most supercars (3 secs), give m.p.g. better than most super-minis (65), tour all day on motorways, cut it on the twisties and cover the sort of terrain that would give a land-rover a hard time. How many other vehicles on the planet could offer that mix?

Now, if they could just sort out the bloody wind noise / buffeting from the screen

Happy with mine, just 12 months old, only 7500 miles, but done everything I have asked of it so far. Dealer (Williams) hasn't been a problem either. :thumb

September 04 bike. No probs and love the bike. Just wish I could get out on it (ruptured achilles tendon leg in cast for 8weeks). Would I have another? OH YES! :D
