Since passing her test, Denise hasn't been able to get out trail riding, what with bad weather and coordinating childcare. On Saturday however, all the planets were aligned, and we managed to get a few hours out on the bikes! A patient meant that we were only able to leave at 11.30, but at least the temperature had climbed a couple of degrees by then.
We met Tim and Ange in Mold, and set off for a quick bimble round some of the lanes.

The pair of them then have a discussion about the effects of running water, how lucky blokes are, lack of bush, and "she-wees". The things you hear through a Scala. :eek

The ford was easy compared to this though! The water here was still, and frozen. Tim broke through the left hand rut, and I the right. The ice was thick enough to stop the Honda in a couple of places, but we managed to get the girls through without incident.

The tarmac road to Moel Famur had patches of ice on it, so after a team photo, we took a cautious approach to the hillside.

Notice the innocent looking icy patch to the right? It becomes sheet ice for at least 100 yards!

Tim went first, to check whether it was possible to get around. It was, with some care and a bit of pushing, so he had a lie down to prepare. :augie

All safely to the top. As it was nearly 3.00pm, Denise and I had to head for home at this point.

But not before I managed to have a lie down myself, after clipping a gate held open by a walker for me, and depositing the bike at his feet! He tried his best not to laugh, as I scambled quickly to my feet before anyone could see. Denise had heard though, as the Scala works both ways. :blast
