Have installed the full version on my PC(which has Aware in it) and done a full diag and the fault is there and this is what it says.
GS911 Version:904.1 Date:17/06/2009
10167: Output stage to Electric Fuel Pump faulty (Fuel pump electronics/driver)
The fault is currently present.
I can clear the fault but as I said in post 1 it comes straight back when the bike is started up.
Will try and find out just how friendly BMW dealers are and ask there advice.
Quotes below from Google Group -
I rang up a very helpful BMW dealer today; they were confident that this
problem is due to a corroded fuel pump controller, which can either be
cleaned or replaced (65 GBP). For those that don't know (like me!) it sits
on top of the fuel pump on the left side just below the tank (behind the
black plastic cover, on the 1200GS), and the earlier ones are highly prone
to this; they have since developed an upgraded one which is ok and hasn't,
they say, caused any problems.
Although the message 'Can Bus Off' is somewhat unhelpful and obscure,
giving the engineer that message helped point him straightaway to the
problem and save a lot of time.

let us know what the outcome was - I'm a little suspicious of the
comment of the dealer... here's why...
there are two fuel pump related Fault codes, the one refers to the
Fuel-pump itself (had one like this on Saturday with a friends bike):
"Electric Fuel Pump"
Then there is the Fuel-pump electronics ( the drive circuit that
replaces the standard fuel-pump relay)
"Output stage to Electric Fuel Pump"
this is the fault your dealer described to you...
and then there is the "fuse" that could be activated as a result of a
short-circuit and/or over-current to the Fuel-pump driver...
"Fuse for Fuel-pump, activated"
