I know this has been done to death already but I'm really struggling to find something that really suits me no matter how much I mess with the screen height adjustment.

I tried just about every position with the standard screen and was never really happy with any of them so I went for a taller 'touring" screen (I think it's a Puig) and it's pretty fucking useless. I can ride with the visor up at practically any speed with the screen at its lowest setting but put the visor down and it seems that the visor gets buffeted. put the screen anywhere above the lowest setting and it's not a good experience riding the bike.

I'm 6' tall but always have the seat on its lowest height setting so I'm going to have one last go with the touring screen at its lowest height and the seat at the higher position to see if it improves but where to go after that?

I'm almost convinced that a 1290 SA screen is the next thing to try because other people seem to have found them to be pretty good but is there another option? I know I can go back through all the old posts on this subject but there might be someone new who didn't contribute last time but will this time hence dragging it up again.

Has anyone tried the R screen with the Touratech clip on thing?

Hi Andy.

I'm running a full 1290 screen and mask on my 1190. The screen retrofits straightaway, and all you need for a perfect fit is the 1290 screen brackets. To fit the mask I needed to dremel the slots out a fair bit but it's not a particularly difficult job. Adjustment is tight at the top of the movement but is doable otherwise. The only thing I will probably do is buy some longer screen bolts and add some 10mm spacers to increase the airflow between the screen and the mask.

Overall it works pretty well with good weather coverage from the mask and I'm happy with it.

Other recommendations are for a Givi airflow screen which I used to have on my GS and which worked brilliantly but which is slightly aesthetically challenged. I'll grab you a photo and stick it up on here.

That would be great. Roughly what's the damage to my wallet going to be for a screen and mask? I'm not really fussed about the cost because the Puig screen is a pile of shit for someone my height and it takes away some of fun riding the bike.

I have the kTm touring screen and a Puig spoiler. This kicks the wind over my head and I have zero buffeting:

I have the 1290 screen, but haven't bothered with the 1290 mask. Seems to work ok for me (6.00 too).

Here is a picture .... :)

giles: is the screen adjustable without the mask?

Yes, but you need a few washers (fibre / rubber whatever) just to take it away from the mask by 5mm or so, otherwise in it's lowest position the screen just touches the mask ... :thumb2

I have just added one of the MRA additional spoilers the tour version to my GSA and after a bit of trial and error with the angles and height its a vast improvement :clap:clap

I'm assuming you've seen THIS thread, but, just in case........

A year on and I'm still pleased with the MRA :)

Andres

How are the ergonomics on the Tomos :nenau do you need an additional rear mounted screen to stop any flies and critters catching you up and hitting the back of the crash helmet :D

My plan for today is to find somewhere within 50 miles that has an SA in stock then ride over and actually have a look at the screen close up. If it looks like it'll be an improvement then I'll order one and give it an extended trial on a trip to Belgium I've got coming up in a few weeks.

First thing to do though is take the Puig touring screen off and get rid of it. It's probably fine for someone a different height to me or it may be that moving the position of the bars could make all the difference but I simply can't be bothered fucking about with it any longer.
