Out today, lovely day for it.

Bit chilly though so had the heated grips on full.

When I throttled all the way to the stop and then let go, the grip would spring back smoothly, but the engine retained its RPM and accelaration for about 1-2 secs. After that, the rev's would drop with engine braking as normal.

I dont think its the same as the heated grip problem here: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=128501&highlight=throttle as it only happens when the throttle is rotated fully all the way to the stops.

It happens each time I try it, and I've tested it in 4th, 5th and 6th. The throttle grip rotates smoothly and predictably.

I guess it could just be a sticky cable, or throttle body spring, but wondered if there is an easy check or fix for me to do?

Bike is a late '07 12GSA, with 2900 miles.

Also, I've noticed that there is a 'detente' on the throttle just before you get to the stops. Is this on everyone's bike and I've only just noticed it?

I'll give Bahnstormer a ring or drop by tomorrow if its nothing simple.

Cheers,

Mike

Had this on my HP, don't know if GS is same, but there's a plastic muck guard on the inside of the throttle bodies that can rub on the cables (if mucky or slightly out of line). Check this.

well known problem;

the solution is to put a washer between the throttle and the handguard; worked for me

do a search on this forum for more details

If it only happens when your heated grips are on then its to do with them and is easily sorted either with a washer, or moving the switchgear over.

If it happens when the grips are off then you'll have to look at the cables etc.

Hi Rick.

It's happening both times, but not all the time - if you see what I mean?

Yesterday morning riding to Stevenage it did it when the grips were on 1 dot and 2 dots, and then again 10 minutes after I turned them off. On the way back in the afternoon it didnt do it at all.

I dont have any washers lying around (least none that'll fit). Jody from Bahnstomer is going to have a look on Fri so I'll leave it for now and can work around it until then.

Cheers,

Mike
