sticky throttle

My throttle is getting heavier. I lube’d it all, but still not right. Then yesterday I noticed a notch from about 60% throttle, there's a distinct ridge like a weber going to secondary throttle butterfly

There’s an odd box of tricks part way down that splits the cables... is it something in here wearing out, or a frayed cable / other cause ?

Mine had this, i could feel the notchiness in it, I took it apart and lubed it........it was worse after this and the bike ran very badly.......picked up a full cables used unit from sherlocks for about £40, smooth as silk

A lot of these cables have PTFR liners now and lubing them can make them worse due to the swelling of the PTFE from when the lube is applied.

I had similar last year, but without the notch. In that instance it was the twist grip that was dirty and lubing it had actually made it worse. I removed, cleaned and lubricated with waterproof grease. Been great ever since

I just got underneath and gave a better squirt on the butterfly spindle area (further in toward the engine than you think), you can open them with your finger (so its not the actually butterflies that are sticky) then lifted the little dust cover on each throttle body cable entry and put lube there.... it felt better...

then I realised at the grip end a ferrel unscrews on the twist grip housing, and you can pull the cable out stick the wd40 tube in and get it round the top of the throttle grip and could see the PTFE cable liner... before I read the replies, I just fed a bit of wd40 down the first bit of the cable.... Its a lot lighter and the notch is a lot less.... (but still there so I guess its in the cables somewhere)
