Another tank bag question ..... !

I want to buy a tank bag for a R1200 GS but I don't know which one to get.

I have used Baglux on other bikes and really like them but I thought I'd look for another option this time. They aren't the most attractive and once the harness is on it stays on.

I don't really want to spend a fortune on one. I don't really want to glue velcro onto the tank. I want the back to attach and detach easily. I want decent carrying straps or rucksack straps. A mid-sized bag with a map-pocket is preferred.

The Famsa bag looks pretty good but I'm not sure about the zip attachment.

Any other suggestions ?

The Wunderlich one is good, straps, map bag, expandable etc.
I found the BM one far too big and the baglux offering for the 1200GS is tiny... also you don't have to glue velcro onto the tank with the wunderlich.
(I just happen to be selling one on "for sale and wanted" )

OK I'm interested but can you explain;

"Needs a new strip of velcro hooks for the front of the tank (didn't use the rear one). I do have the hooks from my bike and you might be able to re use it."

Where does the velcro come in if it's not glued to something ?

erm....
Looking at the picture in my ad & bear in mind refs to front/back are to the tank on the bike...

There are two parts to the harness (below tank bag in pic). The tank bag sits between the two bits of the harness, attached by QR buckles on the front harness and velcro strap on the rear harness.

Front harness straps around the serial number plate on the bike with ladder lock buckles ( & can have velcro on the leading edge of the tank)
Rear harness straps around the log book holder under the seat (& can have velcro on tank if you want the harness to form a tank pad ish affair)

I only installed the front piece of velcro as was following the instructions and had not realised how the whole thing worked. I took it off again once realised not needed as (like you) I'm not keen on bits of velcro being left on the bike... especially at crutch level! I would say that if you were using the bag a lot and hence left the bits of harness on the bike permanently and did not put the velcro on then I think you would risk them rubbing the paint. I always took them off as I only used the bag less than once a month for a day.

Half tempted to flog my TT tankbag as I hardly use it these days. But you'd need to get two strips of velcro to stick to the tank.
