Ok I know it's me being thick but when even the wife can't suss it I know I need to ask to satisfy the OCD in me.

So the GS large tank bag has a small zipped pocket at the front for wallet, passports etc and inside is a red drawstring but for the life of me I can't figure out what it's supposed to do. It doesn't tighten the inner lining or do anything as I can see so need someone to tell me so I can either

1) Feel like a Pratt
2) Feel like a twat

:D

It has been a while since i used a BMW tank bag but is it the thing you use to hold the liner back/appart for ease of loading

No it's in the small front pocket and it's a 3 inch bit of red string with a toggle on the end. The toggle slides up and down the string, why I don't know, but the string is static and does seem to affect any other workings

Baffled?

Really?

Well that's bloody stupid if that's the case but mystery solved then I guess

Thanks

Hi Wonkey, when I bought mine the I was told it was to keep the contents of the bag dry. You can roll the liner up and secure it to the edges with little toggles like a duffel coat.

I'm glad you have asked this question W D.... I picked up my 2014 GSA last weekend and it came with this (£200 ) accessory. Like you, I can't for the life of me, figure out what it's for. I have been searching on YT, other forums, internet search sites but yet to come up with anything. Guess we will just have to stick a bottle of water in it and be done...:D

If i do find anything, i'll let you know. :beerjug:

Hi,

It's to hold a drinks/water bottle in the pocket without falling out.

Regards, Al

OK ................ not mentioned in the Operating Instructions.

In mine it's blue elasticated. Can't imagine using it for drinks personally - I've put a key ring on mine, so I can clip lock keys etc in place.

Whilst the main compartment seems fully waterproof, this small outer pocket/bag (4) & the map pocket/card slot (2) as it is described, are only shower proof, so wallets/passports/toll money/maps/itinerary lists all need wrapping. Still, it's better than using rain covers.

This. ^^^^^^^
Except that I got a 'free' one with my GSA which has never been used. But If it had been this is what I would have done.

"OK ................ not mentioned in the Operating Instructions"

There's a joke right there.... a massive book that has about 4 relevant pages in English...! :loopy
