Another WC test ride - Underwhelmed

Do all the wc engines have a rough idle. The rev counter jumps up and down at idle. Spot on once riding. It's like a misfire. The demo one I rode was doing it. Would do my head in if owned it

Maybe this will be more to your liking?

If only more toilet owners could be so honest :blast

That's a damn good looking BMW......

It definitely NOT a GS, but it's a fine looking bike. :thumb

Perhaps it's what BMW wanted to do, but they bottled out and thought they could pander to the GS lovers.

They failed, but the toilet is still a wonderful bike :comfort

Nope, mine doesn't:nenau

My demo bike was the same at idle, plus I felt a load of secondary vibes through the bars and footrests when cruising at around 80 mph.

Surely there will be a fuelling update or something for next years bike too smooth out the idle. It totally puts me off the bike

Really? Sort of like the way old fashioned audio-buffs spent most of their time listening to the gaps between vinyl tracks? I can't see why you would give it more than a moments thought.

That said. Mine seems smooth enough - for a bike 2 cylinders short of VFR smooth.

Doh! Hooked! Lol. Forgot to notice this was the knockers thread. Ok hands up. You got me!

That made me laugh, audio buffs have serious psychological issues, same as religious fundamentalists :D nothing wrong with the LC's idle by the way.

The one I demo d had a real bad idle. The rev counter jumped up and down quite considerable at idle.

Seems quite a few do, but obviously shouldn't. Still, we all can't expect perfection in every bike made by BMW. :toungincheek

Mine doesn't, and the two bikes from vines that I've ridden don't.:rob I've not heard of this issue from any other owners, so its hardly anything of concern.

mmmm....I think it comes down to expectations and what you are used to. The two I rode from Vines seemed to hunt around the idle. Mine too hunts around idle in that the revs bounce around 800 - 1200rpms - how much this happens seems to vary. I haven't analyzed it in any great detail as its not a big issue for me.
My super smooth Honda also hunted around the 1000 rpm mark too. In fact thinking about it, most of my bikes have hunted to one degree or another.

Is it an issue - I doubt it - I think its probably just the character of the bike.
It seems like some people are just looking for any minor thing to complain about.

Personally, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
