is almost perfect, and I sincerely hope that in 15yrs time I'm so happy with it that it's still in my shed, and I can come on here and tell these new upstarts with their new fusion powered hover over the rough stuff GS's,that the 2013 GS LC was the last of the true GS's
Nice one Giles.I wasn't expecting you to actually buy one at the end of the test ride, I thought you were just out for a jolly

Ha! me too.
The reality is, it actually makes good economic sense. As good as the bike is, it's not 5k better than my current GSA.
But ... I pay 100 quid a month on a small loan (bought my WR450 with it) and am happy to accept that as a petrol head, I'll pursue my hobby, and it's going to cost me say £100 a month. If I was keen on fishing, maybe went to the pub every night for a couple of pints .... whatever your blokey hobby, I'm happy to write off 100 quid a month to do it.
The deal with BM is they'll take my GSA off me, give me back 4K, and I pay 100 quid a month for a bike that now has a warranty and is brand new. With that 4K I pay off whats left of my WR loan (£1,100 ?? I think) and I just carry on as normal. The £2,900 can pay for a bit of luggage, and sit in the bank .. pay for servicing ... and then do it all again in 2 / 3 years.
I'm happy to pay a monthly fee for that deal.![]()

How do you GS riders get on with the weather protection? Do you get noticeably colder in the winter? Wetter?

I don't think it's the one trick pony I did a few months ago JB ... I hear you! I guess we (me and BMW) are both winners, so whilst the finance isn't rocket science, I win 'cos I'd have been paying that sort of some monthly anyway, and they win 'cos in two / three years time I'll probably do it all over again. Their marketing success is tying me into their brand, which i can live with.![]()

Is this a TE with toys or a standard bike. A TE with spokes and crash bars etc is ouch on the invoice.
