A bit of a daft question, but I think I am doing it right...

I have a Zetagi power meter and on my panorama GPI antenna I get 4w (which is what I expect for my radio - Puxing 888) forward power and 0.1w reflected is that an SWR of 1.1?

Is that good? In terms of SWR I think it is.

On another antenna (using the Puxing 888) that in my calculations is too long by 20mm, I have approx 6w forward and 0.8w reflected. Guessing an SWR of 1.8.

Is that bad? That is where is the extra power coming from and is it bad for that much reflected?

Obviously I think (not being a radio buff) that 6w - 0.8w is better than 4w - 0.1w.

Somebody enlighten me..

Here is a piccy of the scale so you can see what I mean.

yep, but anyone know which needle is the SWR or is it the crossing of the two?

you have a cross needle meter

one needle reads transmitted power

one reads reflected power

where the two cross should be read off the red scale to show voltage standing wave ratio for antenna/transmitter.............

below 2 .............forget about it
