Any of you Tossers ride a pushbike?

That's quite an unpleasant image!

I'm sure he probably wouldn't look so bad in person, but pies were invented for people like him.

Here is mine,a 1959 Raleigh at the start of a 50 mile charity ride....

My preferred tyre is Vittoria Pave (green / black). Good wet grip, fast rolling, very durable and good wear rate (about 2500km).

A cheaper alternative is the Vittoria TriComp. Again fast rolling but they do (or use to) cut up quite easily so I moved away from these and onto the Quattro version of the tyres. They are a good all rounder but the poorest for rolling resistance.

Stopped using Conti tyres around 2005 / 2006 so unable to comment. I just didn't get on with then due to the poor wear rate (about 500km)

The Vittoria Pave is well reviewed but there's a lack of real technical information on their website. At £50 a pop, they are also fecking expensive!

Mileage isn't an issue. I just want to put tyres on my bike and, more importantly, my squeeze's bike, that will give the best chance of getting around the Boris 100 without problems.

Try these Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp. Great ride even when pumped up over 120psi. Comfortable and grippy with low rolling resistance and you can get them real cheap now. Will pump up to 145psi if your rims will take it.

Well rated in most respects except punctures.

I'm booked to do the Standard but realistically and considering the rating I'm prob going to change my booking to the short...I've yet to ride more than 30miles in one hit.

Feel free to take a look at the route files and see what you think :)

UPDATE:
It's this Sunday, I've changed to the short route as I've still yet to do more than 30miles in one go!

Just in from another three miler, bloody gruelling, and I have another three miles to the pub quiz tonight too, the training schedule is harsh and unrelenting.
Heres my latest rescued Raleigh, a 71 Gold Medale, really nice ride :thumb

So what do you fat tossers wear on your road bike ?

On my hybrid I used to wear baggy cycling shorts and am a bit loathe to wear proper road bike shorts. But some mates say I need to get with the program and get some bib shorts as they are much more comfortable.

I don't want to look All The Gear And No Idea especially when still being unfit,so what do you reckon ?

Recently got a new pair of bib shorts called "Funkier" link seriously good value for money and no advertising, on the jersey side I try to wear jerseys uni colour with no adverts, Lidl for example, keeps it cheaper and why advertise for somebody.

I tend to wear Decathlon gel padded road shorts. To avoid the budgie smuggler look after a ride if , for instance, going in the pub one can always wear running shorts over the top. They'll easily fit in a pocket.

I tend to wear non branded jerseys as there's nothing sadder than seeing a middle aged bloke in pro team kit on the road.

Although I am warming to the a London Pride top I've seen a couple of times. ;)
