Any of you Tossers ride a pushbike?

I had an OTB moment on our regular Thursday night ride last week. Pedal strike into a tree stump that I'm sure wasn't there before. :blast
Landed about twenty yards away, then the bike landed on me.....
Managed to bark my shins on the bars as I went over, just below where my knee pads finish.
Of the group that I ride with, there must be at least one big off per ride, or we aren't trying hard enough! Road cycling I cant comment on, as I've never done it, but it does
look more dangerous to me.

So a question for others here, have you found road biking safer than mountain biking and how does it compare to motorcycling? I think it might be that I have not yet adapted to the skinny road bike tyres, after a mountain bike, and yesterday was rider error I know, but I just wondered how common offs are if you ride a lot?

I've only had one off on a road bike, but I managed to break my femur doing it. I've had several unplanned dismounts on my mountain bike, but each time managed to escape without a scratch. Asphalt hurts a lot more than soil.

Back from this mornings ride and without incident. I've been using Conti GP4000 S II's this year and must say I'm mightily impressed with the grip levels. I have 23mm's on the carbon bike and 25mm's on the winter hack. Not a single snick on them yet whereas when I ran Gatorskins I had quite a few punctures and the sidewall cut up quite badly. Hoping they'll be an all year round tyre.

I swear by full slicks in all weather! Tread pattern on a 23mm tyre is a waste of time as aqua planing is never going to be a problem.
More rubber on the road is what is needed.

Had a Dawes Karakum cycle for a few years and wanted something a little more 'rigorous' for the coming cooler months so just bought a nice Carrera Subway 2 from halfords - an extra 10% off today :D

I know that this thread is mainly for the roadies...but I tend to just ride off road and I really fancy having a go at the Megavalanche in 2016/17, wondered if any of the MTB bikers here have done it and got any advice ?

It'll have to be a charity place for me on this year's Boris 100 - but the squeeze got a place in the public ballot. :clap

Anyone else get a place?

I didn't get in but not that fussed as I had another shoulder op on Monday so feck knows when I'll be back on the bike.:(
Maybe next year:thumb2
