Any of you Tossers ride a pushbike?

Good effort Greg, you are smashing the miles out :beerjug:

The cycle show at the NEC was good. posted a few pics on PH (you lot know where to look).
Picked up a few goodies, and now have a good idea of what bike I'm after in the spring :thumb2

did the manchester to blackpool cycle saturday night with my son Carl. got away about 00:45 into a fine night. we set off in buches of 40 or so at two minute intervals so it was slow for the first few miles as we were all bunched up but when it all spread out a bit we could get a move on.
there were all manner of bikes and riders with my respect going out to those on big old heavy mountain type bikes. we were at times free wheeling past riders of those bikes whilst they were having to pedal them quite furiously!
great event and i absolutely loved it even though there were quite a few hills.
the coastal wind in the last 5 or 6 miles was a bit testing and as we were trying to keep a decent pace going it was sapping the life out of my legs.
finished at the tower after 3h 20min of cycling a happy bloke. furthest by a long chalk i have ever cycled.

That's exactly what I did with my last mountain bike, had it about 4 years, never used it, lazy sod, but it did at least get stored in the garage, and I did give it away to someone more deserving! :D

My road bike saved for special occasions

I use a specialized tricross with upgraded bits for everyday commute.

Borrowed a bike, then rode the last half a mile home, it was much harder than I expected and now I have jelly legs, unfortunately that was the easy bit:D

I bought a MTB last year intending to get fit. There are a couple of country parks close to my house and cycle paths to and from them. It all seemed pretty straightforward to me :nenau

First trip out, all the gear no idea. I goy halfway up the first big climb, then sat on a bench and threw up :barf

It took me two weeks (6 rides) to get over the top of that hill, but I made it. I now use that hill as a warm up for the big ones on the other side of it. I do smile every time I pass that bench though as I've found a couple of others I can climb to now before I chunder :eek

Seriously though, it can be a steep learning curve and tough to start with. I'm still enjoying it though :bounce1

Did a 3 mile circuit around the local lanes on the way home, then did another 3 miles after dinner, yesterday I did a 4 mile circuit of the town, first thing in the morning

I have about a week, before I do the 10 miles to work, but I might do a test ride Saturday, to see how I get on:thumb2

@ greg masters - triathlons on hold this year, concetrating on them next year.

10k run, half marathon and full marathon this year. Infact the marathon is in 18 days time.

I lied, I did the circuit this morning and it's 4.2 miles, according to the bike computer, struggled up some of the steeper hills, but managed the circuit without stopping, took 25 mins though, and I was rather puckered out at the end, for some reason I find downhill to be the easiest :D

So I have upped my game, Saturday I did a 8.4 mile circuit in the morning, then a 8.7 mile one in the afternoon, and this morning I did 13.25 miles, I think I could do with a better bike, but that's not going to happen, winter and the fact that I haven't got a clue puts paid to that!:D

It's surprising how quickly you improve, it's still hard though, seems I lost 4lb during the week :beerjug:
