Does anybody know the difference between the Kenwood Tk3101 and the Tk3107

:aidan

If your looking to talk to other people in this country then you will need the 3101 although this is now outdated and replaced 2 years ago by the 3201.
The 3107 is for the chinese/japanese market and comes with no 446 frequency channels.
If your looking for cheap 3201 then try here they promise never to be beaten on price

I have a 3207 which is identical to the 3202 the only difference is the ability to reprogram everything

I have a 3107 and it can be reprogrammed to 446MHz frequencies - in fact I have mine set to the same as the 3101 default channels and sub-codes (with 1 channel spare).

Found it!

It's called KPG55D if that helps.

It has the 3107 on the options list, but you have to overwrite the frequency range.

It all works OK though.

HAs anybody idea of the power output for them?

Which one is more powerful or are they both the same?

Do you have a manual for the 3107 Greg?

The 3107 is supposed to be 4w.

Yes, I have the manual but it really doesn't say a lot except stuff like how to unpack the box it came in and how to install the belt clip etc!

Against the 3101 being only 1/2w output I presume?

HAve you had any issues with it overheating/power problems at all as I recall reading somewhere that the autocom wont power it.

I've not actually swaped it for the 3101 that's in my bike yet, but can't see why the Autocom shouldn't be able to power it.

Forgot to mention that the KGP55D programme needs a Serial port lead and you have to persevere as programme drops out sometimes!

There's a guy in Staffordshire who can make you a lead - I'll see if I can find his details.

i,m lead to believe that the output of 4w of the 3107 maybe a little to much for some autocom units. it,l work for a while but will eventually fail.:nenau

I got round it by getting a false 'battery back' adapter to power the radio off the 12v bike supply.

Then the Autocom PTT lead plugs straight in.

No issues at all, other than the possibility of getting nicked for a high output radio.

I also have the 3107 programmed for all the standard 446 frequencies, and I've never had problems with other people.
