Any truth in the Ducati Croydon rumour?

I've heard Reiton BMW have ceased trading as well not sure if it's true.

i also heard this saturday night, not surprised, i went in recently looking at a voge 800, richard the only remaining salesman looked like he had lost the will.

Georgeeboi, that is not true, they are still trading. They are no longer a BMW dealer and official servicing agent

That was the case but when you look online now and google them they show as “Permanently closed”

They don’t show on the Voge website as a dealer anymore either

️NOTICE OF BUSINESS CLOSURE

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Reiten Motorrad, Suffolk, has ceased trading and has entered voluntary liquidation.

Opening our own BMW showroom in 2018 was a long-held dream, and we pursued it with belief, hard work and pride. We built a loyal customer base and worked tirelessly to grow the business through some incredibly challenging years. Covid struck before we had the chance to gain real momentum, and the financial and operational pressures that followed made trading increasingly difficult.

Over time, the costs and requirements associated with being a BMW dealer increased, and meeting these standards as a small, independent business became progressively more demanding. At the same time, wider market conditions shifted. Interest rates rose sharply and significant discounting within the network placed additional pressure on us as a family-run dealership.

In the last year we expanded our workshop to support customers across Suffolk and Norfolk based on our understanding of the service arrangements in place at the time. Changes to these arrangements, combined with the difficult economic landscape and the cumulative pressures of recent years, created challenges that became impossible for us to overcome.

Our experience highlighted the difficulties faced by small independent dealerships operating within a large national network. While the structure may work well for some, it ultimately became unsustainable for us despite our best efforts and our commitment to the brand and our customers.

We also want to express our sincere appreciation to MotoGB. Our experience with them has been extremely positive, and their support throughout our partnership has been greatly valued.

This has been an incredibly difficult decision and not one we ever imagined having to make. We poured everything into this business emotionally and financially, and we are truly grateful to everyone who supported us. To our customers, suppliers, friends and the local motorcycling community—thank you. Your trust, loyalty and encouragement meant more than we can ever express.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

sad though reiton closing is, they sold brand new bmw's in the week leading up to xmas 2024 and then announced jan 1st 25 that they were no longer franchised dealers but were an official service and warranty center, it would seem bmw uk has stripped them of that, they were still selling new chinese bikes up till a week ago, each time they have known what is happening so they have not been particularly transparent which would leave a very bitter after taste if i had just bought a new bike from them.

back to In Moto .

i have seen an email from them to various dealers , selling off the stock they own.

so it was them doing a planned closure as opposed to going bust.

they gave notice to Piaggio back in early June , so 6 months wind down .
this accounts why i started to see a couple of their punters.
they own ( the family or members ) 5 company names .
1 member has an address in Verwood for correspondence ? why when all other correspondence goes to the main address ? charge on the house in Verwood ?

An interesting post on a FB thread about Ducati Croydon. Ducati Nottingham closed down a year ago with the collapse of the Pidcocks group, this looks like someone else might be taking on the franchise and bringing back the Manager and team that were there at the time (y) .

Motorvated Ltd
And yet, we're imminently welcoming back Mark Payne and his team at Ducati Nottingham! It's not all doom and gloom out there in the motorcycle world, there is certainly sparks of light.
