just brought a Y piece from a fine gentalman of this Site:)

The is a size issue fitting it to my down pipes from cylinder heads to Y section
the clips on my GSA only close so far, because the is a spacer in the way. which is fine to clip/hold but std air box/ catalytic converter to the down pipes,
But the Y piece metal is slighty thinner , thus the clip does not close tight enough to hold/ clip the y piece to the down pipes.

my bike is a 1150 04 gsa

question has anyone come across this befor ?
if so did you take the spacer out so it closes tighter.. ?
is the a mod for this ?

what i've done to get a ideal of size difference is roll up some Aluminum foil thick enough to make it tight and does not blow any exhaust fumes out, which works ok.. The size different is about 1 mm in dia :blast

I'm i the only one to come across this ?:)

cheers for reading

This is a common problem as the BMW clamps don't close up enough for after Market pipework.
You can pick up new stainless zorst clamps at a fair price from places like busters etc fairly cheap:thumb2

Your foil solution is a good workaround if you don't want to source another clamp. I've done similar in the past but using shim brass - it's thicker and harder wearing than aluminium foil but you can still cut it with scissors.

thanks Matt:)
i've order the clamps now, not a bad price either to be honest:)

hopefully your sorted now ;).

A Remus Y piece should come with their own clips. ;)

Agree Steppers....however, though my remus arrived complete with clips to fit existing pipework...they were quite 'lightweight' M6 bolt requiring a @10mm spanner to fit where'as the BMW ones used @15mm socket m10 bolt(bigger is better innit?):comfort
Plus the remus clip bolt's, when tightened, the bolt's threaded area fouled on the Remus pipe itself.
So decided to reuse the beemer ones, to get mine to fit I removed the spacer between the 2 'pinching bits' and pulled her up tight. No probs, and as a cheap fix, if you can get the internal profilled spacer out, go for it.
