Anyone seen a lowered suspension LC GSA?

ok so as promised heres some pics of the lower GSA in Green and in comparison the std GSA in WHite ….the Lower GSA is on a std seat in the Low setting and the same for the white one …on measuring both theres around one inch in difference from the height of the seat to the floor…. So Std suspension in white

if you look at the "indentation" in the Tank you can see the green is lower

the plate on the bottom of the bike is slightly lower to the ground

from a bystanders position it is difficult to tell that one of the bikes is lowered by an inch ..

hope that helps the shorter legs amongst us

Great, thanks - I can clearly see the difference in the first two photos. The only thing I wonder is if the front wheel is closer to the front of the engine casing as it looks awfully tight to add a fenda extenda on the lowered bike? Or maybe it's just the angle of the photo? The reason why I'd prefer a lowered bike to the regular bike with a low seat is to preserve the gap between seat, pegs and bars - I tried a GS seat on a normal GSA and the knee bend was much too tight for me.

great, thanks. I have a machineart moto extenda that I could transfer across. Maybe time for a test ride on the regular model...

Really surprised with the photos, and 1" is hardly noticable at all. I was seriously thinking about ordering the lower option but thought it was more a technique thing then anything else so went for the standard GSA.

At 5"8 I know I cannot comfortably get both feet down so I shuffle my bum to either side, keep one foot on the peg ( mostly brake side ) and have my other foot flat on the floor. Easy!!

Also getting on and off the bike is made miles easier by having a cameltoe on the sidestand. So stable when getting on and off now. Step one foot on the peg and swing leg over whilst bike on sidestand. Easy! To dismount- reverse.

The biggest visual clue is the gap between the beak and front mudguard........................

As stated elsewhere on here, at 5'8" I had no problems with the seat height when ESA selected to just rider. However, when selected two up and luggage could not touch the ground. As all of my riding is 2 up around Europe have ordered the lower suspension. My dealer says ride height reduced by 40mm - so should dance away around the twisties better than the standard GSA then..............

Being vertically challenged myself, I use this method but am always worried if the side stand is strong enough.

For those who already have the lowered version of the GSAW , how does it compare with the normal suspension version in dynamic driving ( twistys , mountain roads ) , steering feel , corner clearance and comfort in damaged roads?

Hi Matty598, Im thinking of a 2015 GSA myself but the seat height is definitely an issue for me, im also 5'10" and 30" leg. The low suspension option is £175. I looked at Daves photos (thanks) of the two bikes and its hard to see the difference. Im worried about low suspension do you think it changes the handling. Also i like the blue colour and the blue seat but if you order option 499 low suspension and option 773 low seat you get a black rider seat and the blue original pillion seat. I have asked can you order the low seat in blue, but this is not possible. I was told that a low GS seat on a standard GSA brings the height down to 840mm. Let us know how you get on :thumb

Pidcocks have a low GSA demo, i sat on the bike yesterday and at 5'7"" and 29" inside leg, i could get my feet down with the standard seat on the high setting. It was side by side with a stock GSA and the low height was quite apparent.

I'm slightly shorter than you and my inside leg is just under 30", on my WC GSA I can get the soles of both feet on the ground and find this manageable. On my previous TC GSA I had to have a Sargent Low seat to get the same footfall, with the standard seat I was on tip toes. If the Sargent Low seat for the WC gives the same reduction in height I should imagine I'd get both feet flat on the ground. In fact, I've just remembered that a friend of mine has the BMW low seat on his WC GSA, when I sat on it, when he first got it in March, I could easily place both feet flat.

Thanks Trebor, I'm just unsure when you spend almost £17,000 on a bike I'd like to get my feet on the ground.

Is the Sergeant seat for the GSA LC tapered (narrower) at the front, like the original?

Just to revive an old thread I did get a lowered GSA in the end. I will be using it for some long trips but also commuting and once riding it really feels like a regular GS. The only change is when you stop and put your foot down. No shuffling, tip-toes or heart attack moments when the ground is loose or there is a pothole. Yes you can see the difference next to a standard height model but I make no pretence about going off-road and if anything the handling and ride quality is better than the GS I traded in. For £175 it's a no-brainer :)
