But - is it “sport-sport-sport” ?

Even if the GSA had 200bhp and 189 mph top speed.... how would you stop all that weight?
Be careful what you wish for![]()

Precisely. It always bemuses me to hear all these pub-hero types talking about 160mph performance when most of the time you can't use more than half that on the roads safely, or legally not to mention it being a pretty pointless thing to thrash a bike like the big boxer as if it were an out an out sports bike. It isn't...never was and never will be. It is what it is, a great all round capable machine with more than enough go for 90% of riders. If you want 160mph capability then a trip to Nurburgring or some track days are the best way to do that.....safely...on a proper sports bike...or go buy a KTM 1290 (but forget touring in quite as much comfort or with as much stability 2-up with luggage if you do). Adventure is a personal thing. To some, world travel ticks the boxes. To me (and I suspect a majority of UK riders) a European tour once in a while and regular long rides to places in the UK be that the Lake District, Snowdonia or the Scottish Highlands all tick my box as being adventures because there are still a lot of places within the UK I'd like to explore or return to, preferably on two wheels in glorious sunshine! (doesn't happen much does that Lol).
I agree with all of the above, however having had two boxer twins in the last three years, I kind of fancy a 1290 experience. My only gripe is insurance premium cost and now you mention stability thing. When does that become apparent, at what speed as wife and I do two up day trips etc, and I will certainly have them metal things attached to the sides/top...

I had a test ride yesterday whilst my bike was in for service. I spent an hour on a-roads and a short motorway section around Manchester.
Initial impressions compared to my 2017 Rally:
Engine is a bit smoother and has more grunt, not huge but noticeable.
Quick shifter is smoother, up and down.
Engine note at tick-over is different, with slight ticking/tappet type sound.
TFT is very nice.
The most practical improvement is the revised routing of the exhaust headers making them less vulnerable to damage, especially off road.
In summary, great bike, but not enough of a difference to make me want to upgrade.
Apart from the TFT you are on the ball. Found the TFT occasionally when the sun was behind me the display was invisible. The engine is also quieter, which means that I will consider the RT when it comes out with a new body work. Also less gear changes.
Incidentally the standard GS is now £2000 more than my was two years ago. So I am out, unless they will bring out an 1250S![]()
He’s already made it obvious he’s a complete fruit loop.
The postings are obviously done at medication time when the nurses are looking after the other inmates.

Interesting....
You better sleep it off, I am sure it’ll look and sound better in the morning after a few coffees....
Pictures please, or it never happened! (Bike and coffee that is)

Not the best pics.
Have come across these last night on BMW website. They are HP parts and due to be available to order from around January.

Akra looks good. Just needs the silver blades blacked out, the cylinder covers painted black, and remove the rear hangers, then job done.![]()
