I find those mid-range gains look almost too big to believe, it shows an increase of about 50% at 5,000rpm, does it feel this much more on the road?
My 1090 is a bit flat in the middle, maybe a post warranty visit to Hilltop could pep it up a bit if I decide to keep it for the longer term, my 1190 has plenty of mid range so I don't see a real need, but the 1090 is a bit flat in the 4k-6k range where I do spend a lot of time.
Also has anyone noticed a perceptible drop in engine heat after having a Hilltop visit?
You raise an interesting point. Correct me if I’m wrong but a lean burner runs hot. So in theory it ought to run cooler.
Nutty has had his done for a while, maybe he has a view.

Nutty has had a cat bypass. So I guess it will run cooler.
yes same here, no cat = less heat build up. A noticeable difference. (and a huge gain in mpg too ...).
Yes, leaner = hotter. Although the HT map will make your bike run a little richer, I'd be surprised if you'd actually notice any difference in the heat from that rear cylinder.
The biggest benefit of running slightly richer is that your con rods won't get so hot and you're far less likely to seize a piston.![]()

A drop of diesel in the fuel tank will also provide a bit more lubrication and improve engine life![]()
I've got a 3 year old 1190 that I've just had de catted. Mate following said it sounded slightly noisier, can't tell if it runs cooler as it hasn't been above 8 degrees since I've had it done but the mpg hasn't changed a bit - still getting about 200 miles to the tank in mixed riding.
Have to say the £125 it cost for the decat doesn't seem great vfm at the moment. Hoping to get it remapped and maybe that will improve things but that's another 300 odd quid and a day off work so where do I stop?!
