Am now back 5100 miles 93 gallons of fuel !
I tried the Norway coast route last year and failed.
I went to Norway via Orkney and Shetland (£200 for 4 ferries including cabins, ending up in Newcastle) The problem with the Norway route is Prices, loads of ferries needed to cross fjords (there was a 3 mile queue for one) and the fact that, being the main road, its chocked with trucks and campervans that there are just not the oppertunity to overtake, even when they slow to 20 mph to get up hills.
To put it in perspective, a couple of the Ironbutt riders said this was the hardest ride they ever did.
I think the Newcastle/Bergen Ferry is quite expensive as well (plus I have to ride 300 miles to get there)
This trip was Dover/Calais £21 return (early hours sailing) 550 miles to Puttgarden 35 euro ferry to Denmark, £12 toll on new bridge to Sweden then ride north.
I saw one Police car at side of road but had been warned about it by every motorist for last 2 miles.
There are speed cameras but they dont seem to do anything and there are the same warnings we get about location.
Everyone speaks english, it is how they communcate with Dutch/Germans etc.
I did not see one dirty car and they have cheesecake with chunks of marinated herring in (!!??)
