Are you now, or have you ever been

Not sure about the Ltd bit, but I did join the BMW club.
I even went to a meet once in Carrick on Shannon (where I realised I didn't fit in with the demographic and was made felt like a complete outsider :rob)

Membership did get me 10% off my insurance from AON though :thumb

a member of the company known as The B.M.W. Motorcycle Club Ltd.?

Yes I am a member, not an active member but a journal member. Like Padge I don,t entirely fit in and always felt there was a strong streak of "pipe and slippers" on the other side of the Irish sea. They just took themselves too feckin seriously in rather a smug way IMHO.
I got copies of some correspondence this week prior to the AGM; it appears us paddies don't entirely fit in with the prejudices of "Squire Bagshott" and he (they?) want shut of us for alleged financial shenanigans. There are other technical accounting reasons thrown in - VAT, different legal system etc.
Looks to me like they don't want us and are looking for procedural reasons to hide their prejudice behind.
While I could live without them the thought of been a thorn in their side brightens up this dull Fri evening - sad or what?
Won't be at the AGM but expect a founder member of the Paddy section might attend and keep us posted.

I am one..

I am a member ... I like the journal and have met some nice people through the club.. The tech forum has been most helpfull....I am not sure if I fit in or not but I do have a pair of slippers and have been known to suck on a pipe on occasion... I am thinking of going up to the AGM if only for the ride... It would not make a huge difference to my life but I would be sorry to see the Irish section disbanded just because of some paper work not being up to scratch...

going to go to the agm should be interesting all right

i am not active in the club but like a lot of people i like the journal and have been on the borreen run and some ride outs etc

a lot of people put a lot of work into the irish section and i can not imagine it will be let die but it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the club

wont change my life either way but think the irish section should be kept going in an independant format if necessary.
just my 2p worth

Are you ever or never?

As a member and former committee member I have a few comments for your information.
The manner in which this heave against the Irish section is deplorable, no attempt was made to include us in any discussionn or even to seek comment. It was solely led by our Treasurer (I wont use the honary bit) who for some reason has the notion that we are a bit too foreign. Yes we have different currency, so what, he gets paid in Sterling, so where is the problem, Accounts were sent too, U K VAT doesent apply and we dont consider that out branch of the club has to get complicated. Its about getting bums on seats and having good week ends, that what clubs do.
I am sure our friends in the UK who visit and mix in with us at our events would be dissapointed with such moves, Like wise we frequently go to events in the UK and transit the UK to further lands.
The meeting other BMW bikers whilst away and being part of a bigger family is at re assuring of being "en famile"
Our section has grown to near 400 members over the past few years, has any other section had growth such as this. That would be 10% of the total membership.
Perhaps its time for the management to take an interest in the sections
and help iron out any minor problems instead for dictating from afar.
Long live the pipe and slippers brigade -elsewhere but not in our club.

Joined the Ulster club for one year. Went out for one run but over-took someone and did not wait at corners so was told off by some old boy on a Honda. They did not tell me I had to wait at corners and go to the back etc. Decided it was not for me. I do not know about pipe and slippers but old boys that know each other for years and do not want new members would be closer to the point. Waste of money.

It's what you make of it.....

I joined the Club right after getting my GS which is a while ago now, the mag is nearly reason enough to pay
the membership, the Boreen Run is good craic and I'll continue going to any events I can (can't do 'em all:o)
Everyone I met at the 6 or 7 events I've been to over the years have been nothing but polite and friendly
and I even made some friends through the Club.

Like a lot of things, if you don't like what's happening get off yer arse and do something about it !

Maybe a mass appearance of Tossers at the AGM could stir things up a bit, there's enough of us !:nenau

to true dathi
so is anyone else going

I do almost nothing for the club, but send them money and they send me a nice journal.
Thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the Boreen last year, thanks to Daithi, Jockser, et al.
Hope to go to the AGM in Moate, I am not really sure what all the fuss is about, but if there ends up being an Irish BMW Bike club, so be it.
Bin

From what i see the boreen run might as well be a GS event seems to be mostly people from on here and likely gets most of it promotion from here too

I know some really old :rob rules are rules guys from up north and they put me off ever joining..... it's about the craic not the bikes to me:D

My first encounter with the BMW Club was at the NEC show stand about 5 years ago they IMO seemed arrogant self-important twats... that was enough for me

If ever anyone in the Isle of Man on the third Tuesday of any month, then we will welcome any BMW owner Club member or not. If you ride a bike turn up. We even meet at the same time and place as the Honda owners club, tht's how easy going we are. We meet at the Creek in Peel, on the quay by the House of mannanin. may see you there some time.

Keep it fast, keep it flowing, keep it safe. :beerjug::beerjug::guitarist::guitarist:beer:
