whats your next bike going to be???if like me you like what you are riding but at some time will change? i would not buy another gs purely because i have bin there done that! so whats next?possibly come back to gs two bikes on but do not wish to buy identical bike again?? whats your views?????????

Having ridden bikes for 25 years plus I have at last, with the GS, found pretty much my perfect bike and could not envisage replacing it unless [1] mine wears out/falls apart (and then I'd replace it with another) or [2] it is developed 'significantly' into a better/more suitable bike for my needs :thumb

Now that doesn't rule out suplementing my GS with other bikes, currently have a T3 Calli and A4 KH400 and, funds allowing, I'd need a wharehouse for all the other bikes I'd like to own ;)

I've been riding for a few years and do heavy mileage. I like to flip from one style / manufacturer of bike.

Unreliable and expensive as the GSis, I can say that it is the first bike that I'd consider buying the same again. They're strangely addictive.

I still habour a like of sportsbikes and when finances allow, I may well have a litre bike for special occaisions. Would never own a sportsbike exclusively again.

can't think of one bike to do all the things i enjoy on the gs...so the fantasy garage would be...

KTM superduke for hooning around backroads
guzzi griso for cruising - because it looks sooo nice
Triumph 675 for trackdays

and a mountain bike for when the KTM runs out of gas, the Guzzi breaks down and the 675 eats the license...

A difficult question.

I have had a number of 'ideal' BMW's - or so I thought until something else came along. I read a magazine report on the R80ST just recently. I thought that was marvellous when I had one a few years ago - and now it is a collectors' item! Why did I change it for an 1100R, then an 1150GS, then a 1200GS????????? (I am not extravagant - I even still wear the same dinner jacket that I bought when I left the army x years ago - even if a little dieting is required before the very occasional events when I am obliged to wear it.)
It is not possible to be rational about these things! (But I rather like the idea of belt drive - although that was (just) out of fashion when I started motorcycling.)

Not a BMUU of any kind, theyr'e shite, and BMUU GB is worse.

erm?

I've not really ridden that many, or sat on that many come to think of it...

I don't like the sportsbikes (my bruv in law offered me his K5 GSX-R1000, whilst he was having a quick go on my R1200GS... I said no!)

I've got the big adverture sport type bug sorted with the GS... but I suppose a classic has certain appeals to me, but I think with mechanical numptiness, a retro Triumph might be just up my street?

Have to try a Scrambler some time...

Mind you I wouldn't mind a loan of a Lardly Davidson... :ymca

My instructors kept saying they wouldn't teach anyone who wanted a Hog... you should have seen their faces when I took the GS round....

They came out of the cabin, and spotted this R1200GS, then looking round saw me sat in the shade... you should have seen their faces :D

Aw come on Den, it was the middle of summer, and I'd only had the bike for about a week, and my license for one week more than that... :bounce1

Just need some more practice
