I am report my findings...

NOTE :Mine as not a FULL software update and should not have altered the engine management

Accessory socket shutting down- FIXED. My sat nav and Autocom, which takes its power from the back of the accessory socket, now stay powered up :thumb

Servo brakes altered ??- well I am not sure about this one- either I have a fault... or the software has changed things. I now need more of a pull on the lever to stop the bike. The braking is not as aggressive, which many do not like and perhaps more 'hydraulic' in feel. NOt sure if I like this. I actually liked the two finger power that I used to have. I can hear the servo working, but it is just not the same . Anyone else found this and if so do you prefer it? I will contact my dealer tomorrow and see if my 'feelings' are correct :nenau

ABS- never needed them so do not know, but I read in the October BIKE magazine, when reviewing the R1200R that "BMW have continually refined their anti lock system and on the R, as on other BMW's, the rear ABS cuts in early." :nenau
:D

Hi GG

Just had my 18K miles service and yes my ABS feel different. Harder to pull with less bite or put another way a more gentle feel. At each service the bike has come back feeling different, throttle response less jerky etc. I suspect that there is a download each time it's just that they don't tell you.

Remember the Bike mag riders don't have time to find out/remember the brakes are linked when swapping bikes on test, so keep on rear braking as well as using the front, so 2x braking going to the rear, hence locking up early 'cos front brake is also operating on rear disc.

Dealer cannot understand why the software update should alter the braking
I am stiil sure that it has... anybody else other than John Gates had this experience :nenau
:D

My 06 brakes seem to have altered somehow, but without any software update. After 4500 miles they seem initially less powerful, but in reality I'd say they are just less sensitive (grabby?) when I give them a good tug. Bedding in? :nenau

JohnC, that is a gradual process, what I am talking about is sudden after a software update :nenau

Yes, mine are still two fingers needed only, so it does sound like a change/problem.

Mine's just back from a 6000 mile service today. Was told they check the servo circuit - separate from the main braking circuit- and needed to adjust the bite point of the lever. The brake lever was biting closer to the handlebar. Simple adjustment of the handscrew at the base of the lever brought things back to normal. Hope this helps.
At the risk of hijacking the thread, has anyone else got nearly through a whole set of pads by the 6000 service? £100+ to replace at the time. Ouch! Might go to EBC or similar before the 12000.
