Hiya all, am about to fit me autocom to me gsa, but b4 i do ive been lookin at fitting the speakers in me helmet, its a shoei hornet, now although the speakers fit into the cut outs inside, foook me it dun arf make the helmet tight around me old lugs:blast now i only had a quick look, so im hopin with a bit of playin around theyll fit a lot neater, so i was wondering whether any other peeps av ad the same problem and ifso any tips????

Cheers in advance!

Hi,

Yes, I've had the pleasure of doing this for both SMBMO's helmet and my own. In both cases, adding the Autocom speakers did seem to make the helmet much tighter, in one case uncomfortably so to the extent that we ended up taking one of the speakers to the outside of the previously comfortable, and worn in, helmet.

The one top tip I found is that, if you have an older Autocom set, the speakers can be much thicker than some of the new models. Swapping out to the newer models can provide much needed space at an instant. I did this with an Autocom reseller who wasn't able to provide a definitive answer about whether this would work (matching impedences and all that), but the newer speaker worked with no problems during our recent 5 week jaunt around Europe.

I am not sure if that will help, but this trick might just give you the space you need.

I have just fitted an Autocom headset into a Shoei Neotec.

I used the foam covers that come with the Autocom speakers and did NOT refit the original blanks from Shoei that cover the recesses if speakers are not being used.

I do appreciate that the Hornet is not a flip helmet.

ime glad i have seen this post actually, i have 2 new shoei hornet DS helmets, 1 for me the rider and one for my pillion wife,

we will be getting out on the bike quite a lot soon and we have a trip abroad already booked,

being a bit of a techno dinosaur, i wonder if anyone could tell me the best set up for these full face helmets, incorporating garmin 660 and i phone 5s

i am planning on getting the SENA SMH10, BUT MY QUESTION IS do i buy the wired microphone one, and ear buds as i can't see how a boomed mike will work with full face helmets.

many thanks

Right im in the process of fitting out the helmets, with the aid of a buff and a bit of jiggery pokery with the speakers i can get it to work! But if you dont mind me askin how did you get your lead tail to hang out the side of the helmet???

Cheers, andy
