Hi all,

A pretty large request here, I brought an active due kit and have the following items i would like to use with it:
  • Nokia E65
  • Garmin Streetpiolt 2610
  • MP3 Player
  • Would also like to add a PTT switch ????
  • Would also like to add a bike to bike radio ???

Am I asking the impossible for this system?

I have two Questions.

1/ What parts (and prices - Contacts)do I need to achieve all of the above, if it can be achieved?

2/ Where do I attach the + and - on my R 1150 GS..... lol!

Cheers all, I look forward to hearing from you.

Batch. :beerjug:

Rather than waste anyone's time, I have just found the info how to wire up the + & - on earlier threads. Just need the answer to how I can run all my gadgets pls.....

Regards,

Batch.

what a coincidence, I am installing the same autocom as yours today also on a GS1150 and with a Garmin GPS (2620 though).
At this moment in time, I am disappointed with the system:
- the speakers are uncomfortable
- i have NO place to put it on the bike - because I have the BMW alarm / immobiliser in the single possible place to put it
- it doesn't work with the Garmin - beats me what the problem is...
- Got the kit, but had to spend a few pounds more to connect to the motorola kit - cables are ridiculously expensive for what they do

I am wondering if this is the worse investment I ever done, as I am just about to put it into the bin or sell it in ebay

A piece of advice: get a 9V battery and do some tests before you run crazy trying to find out where to put things and if it actually works.

I am obviously irrated, if some one has any recommendation (including the shut up :spitfire) I would appreciate :beerjug:

Well Nunesaf,

I have spent the morning on the Forum, I have successfully installed my Active Duo. I have put the + to the thicker of the two Green & Black wires, adding an inline fuse and the - to a seat bolt (into the frame). The Box itself is a sort of temp/perm next to the battery on the airbox (behind the plug). Have got to say, I have plugged my MP3 into Aux 2 and am chuffed to bits with it so far. I just need to know now, can I use a normal mp3 lead with my 2610 GPS? as I have heard a rumour that tihs will do. Also is there a cheap and effective variation for bike to bike? if so, what?

Rather than sell, chuck or fleabay. Give it a couple of days and see what the Forum say. Best of Luck.

I am sorry that you feel this way but you you let me know a bit more information as you seem VERY quick to put our systems down without letting us know much i.e. what helmet you are wearing and also what connection leads you are running for the GPS!!:nenau

What is the Garmin doing or not doing?

Take a breather and I am sure that I can help you along

Hi Rich,

I have connected my Garmin to Aux 2... if my memory doesn't fail, and the sound is incredibly loud! On the other Aux (than 1) the sound is too low. That is my problem. On the safe side, I decided to leave it on the super loud Aux. I will probably finish a trip bleeding from my ears...

I put the autocom at the front, right next to the RHD inner side of the fuel tank. As I have the BMW alarm, I can't put it as Batch237 suggests. There is simply no room there.

My helmet is a Schubert Concept and next the step is probably to use the hot spoon trick - which I would like to avoid, really.

Many thanks for all your support. If you have any further suggestions of where to mount the Autocom or how to reduce the volume of the GPS, I would appreciate.

Batch237, you can try to connect your mp3 player to the other Aux 3 (but my memory can be failing), it may work. I have connected the Garmin with the 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead and then used an adaptor 3.5mm to 2.5mm I got from Maplin to connect to the audio cable of my Garmin.

Batch237, in terms of the bike to bike comms, I got the motorola twin pack and you will need lead 1440 that costs 15 quids. I haven't tried this though :(.

Cheers and thanks again

Connection wise the AUX 2 socket is so very wrong and we do not offer any connections for the 2610 on this socket as the AUX2 socket on the Active is mainly for music, the AUX1 for phone. You should be running our Parts 1294 and 1285 via the AUX3 socket for the correct connections.

System wise the comms can only really be fitted onto the space by the battery. For your bike having an alarm is not really an Autocom problem so you can not really put us down on this one, other systems you would still have the same problem.

The only other solution would be to run the system on a remote detachable power lead so the comms are kept on person. or you could move the alarm box as we have done this before to make way for our systems.

Hello Rich,

I just arrived home and can confirm now that after all I have my Garmin connected to AUX3.

Coming back to your reference:
1294 - GPS cable 2.5mm to 3.5mm lead.
1285 - Mixer: It is striking why do we need to get a mixer to feed a single signal and it costs 24 pound more. Maybe it is meant to say atenuator?

All I wanted was 1) to have bike to bike comms, 2) the ability to hear the GPS info and eventually 3) if I convince my g/f to do trips with me, to have rider to passenger communications. I am sure the Autocom is a fantastic product. It was my fault to rush and buy it without full information: that it requires a few leads more - nearly 50 pounds more (for a kit that cost me 77) and the majority of the cables coming with the kit are close to useless to me and finally, that I had no room to put it in the proper place - not Autocom fault... obviously.

Again, many thanks for your support.

if your running out of room around the battery airbox, and you havent got ABS fitted ???
there is a large void under the tank, ABS wannbe hole :thumb2

Thanks rubberscrubber,
Fortunately I have ABS :). But that's Ok because I found a place to put the autocom. But I have to leave instructions when taking the bike for servicing as it can surprise the mechanic when removing the tank fuel :eek:D

The Part 1285 adds isolation onto the GPS lead to quiten down any interference being fed through the lead. If it was not to be used you will get all of the bikes interference being carried through to your headset everytime the GPS is connected. Im sure if you were to do a search on here you will people have tried it and failed!!

As for spending the extra bit of money it happens, after all you are expanding on a basic system which not every one does and yes you have paid half price for so you should be lucky that the system was not full price and we were running the offer. The standard phone and music leads are used on most systems we sell, it is rare people moan about having leads that come within the kit.
