Ok, so I've got a pair of micro de's and FF50's that were fitted by the previous owner. When I bought it they were wired straight to the battery with a switch to make them live hidden behind the ignition barrel. After fitting a fuse panel I got my mechanic to get rid of the switch & wire it up so they were live on ignition (courtesy of the fuse panel).

The other thing bugging me was the wiring, which is all situated behind/under the oil cooler. Not only is it an eye sore the relays are open to the elements. As a result I want to rewire the lot in a nice orderly fashion. I was thinking of placing the relays in the fuse box, however if anyone can suggest an alternative I'm all ears.

Wiring one pair of lights seems simple enough, but I couldn't find any example diagrams for a set up similar to mine which ideally I would like to see as I'm not much of an electrcian. I edited a picture I found on a jeep forum that I think is what I should be looking at doing...grateful if anyone could confirm that it looks about right?

Also have some other questions...
- wires...do they have to be a certain ampage(?)
- can the live feed to the illuminated switches be tapped from the live to the relays? Do they need a seperate fuse?
- can the earth from the switches be close by (handlebar?) or must it be earthed with the rest of the wiring?

I think that's it for now. Apologies for the essay & sorry if it doesn't all make sense, I'm not too clued up with the jargon :aidan

There's a bolt just in front of the headstock which holds the front 'framework'. That's a good place to use as earth:thumb

Plenty of room under the tank to fit relays etc. just look down with the tank on to see where the gaps are one of mine is cable tied to other wires they are as protected there as the other electrics. there is some room to run wiring up the side of the fairing next to the oil lines. Just make sure your wires are wrapped in the heat resistant covering

It's worth considering an autoswitch......very handy gadget, and as you are supposed to have a switch in the circuit to control spots or fogs independently of the other lights, a neat way of doing things.

A bit of reading HERE

There's also a very very good wiring digram for two sets of aux lights through relays done by MikeO here, but I couldn't find it just now.......well worth looking for though, as it will cover all you want to do i think

I think that's where the 'main' earth is, not sure where the earth from the switchs are though. Will have a butchers this weekend.

Will have a look under the tank too. I think I read somewhere that someone had placed them under the instrument cover??

I thought about one of those, but I regularly flick the spots on/off so need quick response.

I already have a waterproof illumated hella switch for each set.

Still looking for the MikeO diagram...
