Backlash

On my R1150gsa 2002 I was checking back wheel for play and there's no play laterally, but when in gear I can rotate the wheel forward and back about 3/4 inch, is this a case of "then all do that, sir" or is it signs of something is worn ?

I have more backlash than that, now you have me worrying.

By the time you add up the lash in the various sets of gearbox cogs plus the shaft and the final drive 3/4" at the wheel rim would seem good to me.

Edit. Just checked mine, about double what yours is.

Surely down to normal play?
I'm no engineer though, so no doubt someone knowledgeable will be along shortly.

Lots 'o lash in mine too (and in my mates brand new 1200) - I think it's known as a 'feature'
