Following a fair few miles this past week on the RS, I think I'm going to need the bars brought up about an inch and back a little. I don't want to get into modifying clutch line connections, other than losing one of the cable ties (or moving it). Has anyone tried those generic £30 risers as found on ebay or would I be better served using the Heli riser kit which the maker claims can be fitted without mods? Seems quite spendy for what it is but as pretty important part where safety is concerned part of me wants the peace of mind that the cheaper options are usually best avoided for reasons of precision fit and strength. These days with cnc being what it is though, I'd hope any of them would fit properly. Interested to hear back from anyone who's tried either option?

I'm not getting on that well with the Wunderlich screen either. It's very noisy in the lower position and whilst if raised, much better but you need to duck a little to avoid turbulence so I'll be changing that for an MRA Vario X which I had on my GSA and found perfect as the combination of spoiler and screen meant there was at least a few positions you could find to get a happy compromise. It's lower than the Wunderlich but just seems to work better IME.

Other than those two things, the bike's nigh on perfect for fit and comfort.

you will have a bigger audience for your questions at https://www.r1200rsforum.com/

I have no experience of Ebay risers for the RS. I did use a set on my Triumph Explorer and did not die but the finish was rustic compared to the Wunderlich ones I use on the RS.

I've only used the Rox ones previously which were very well made. Every time I try registering on that forum I get the following error message:

It's odd as some people are managing to register since this was first a thing, although the last one seems to have been April. Sadly, the forum owner, the only one with admin rights, is absent. The domain registration is renewed every year so it stays running but the moderators (including me) aren't able to fix the problem or log a ticket with the Xobor platform hosting the forum.

I've ordered a set of the ebay ones for now to see if they're for me. Cheaper than spending £100 more to discover they're not. Same rise and pull back so end result will be the same.

I have been registered for three years, the forum just won’t let me log in at present on any device, will try my windows laptop when I get back from Devon

Done a bit more experimenting and it I ask my browsers to request desktop sites I can log in and all is well.
I hope this helps others who have had issues logging in or registering, looks like there is a glitch with the mobile site request

Still can't access via desktop. Could be cookies need removing first?

Using Voigt up/ back risers on mine. Nice quality , on a par with Wunderlich I would say.
My previous model (2020) had this exact same pair fitted and needed the extra clutch line extension piece.
My 2023 model doesn’t need the extension piece. The various pipes and wires are snug but aren’t being strained so I decided I would avoid any potential hassle with clutch hydraulics needing bleeding etc and leave the extra bit in its bag.

I like the look of both the Voigt and Helibar versions, but will try out the cheap ones first. I think I'll need to remove the top cable tie, and shift the position of the wire cable guide further counter clockwise to get the slack needed. They really ought to provide more flex on their cables. Triumph and BMWs I've had have all had very little clutch hose slack.

Thanks Ali, seen those but had already ordered some cheap ones to try which do much the same in terms of rise and reach.

Well I wish I'd bought the ones above now! Ebay chinese ones arrived and the left one was perfect, fitted well and hole spacings were spot on. The right one was badly made with incorrect hole spacings so would not fit. Utter rubbish and that'll teach me to buy chinese cr*p!

It did though allow a temporary lash up which has convinced me that risers that also pull back a little were perfect. The clutch hose just needed some cable ties removing for added slack, but it's a 10 minute job.

Bought some Acerbis Dual Road handguards and despite checking it was recommended for my bike and stating the bike details, they sent me the wrong fitting kit so they have to go back too annoyingly!

I fitted some Barkbuster Storm handguards from someone who found they hit his screen on full lock with standard bars. They work fine with bar risers.

Just spoken to Dirtbike Express and they are sending the correct kit out. I bodged the handguards into place and have no issues with the fit as they're bar end fitment and narrow towards the fairing, as seen in this video:

MRA now fitted so off to see if it's an improvement...

Did a longish ride out today, taking in A roads, B roads and motorway. Happy to report that the MRA is the best yet tried. Even on the lowest setting, with the spoiler left parallel to the main screen, there was no hint of turbulence and plenty of airflow, with the wind blast taken off the arms and chest. In the raised position the spoiler needed tilting upwards at the back and left me in a relatively still pocket of air with no turbulence. Perfect for M-way bashing out of the miles fatigue free. At lower speeds off the motorway I preferred it in the lower position for the air flow. This one's staying on the bike.

I still have the Wunderlich touring screen if someone would like that. Comes complete with the supplied fixing bolts and is in great condition.

Helibars now fitted. Perfect riding position, just enough up and back to prevent neck and lower back strain. I cut the bottom cable tie off the plastic lug holding the clutch line against the frame, extracted a little more slack and replaced with a new cable tie. Rubber ties near top were moved further up and closer together and little retaining clip under bar rotated towards fork leg. I had to rotate the clutch lever down a little way and then pinch everything up to test lock to lock. Full left lock is fine. Full right lock puts a slight amount of strain on the clutch hose between bars and headstock but not much more than previously and there's some slack lower down in the clutch hose so I'm guessing all is ok. All bar retaining bolts were torqued to 16.5 lbs-ft or 21.5 NM. Starting the bike up on the centrestand and putting it into first though does now result in a loud clunk so I'm wondering if that's something to do with fitting the risers as it normally snicks quietly into first, albeit off the centrestand?

you have no load on the rear wheel when on the centre stand which will make the clunk more evident (you will have a very rare boxer if you have no clunk at all)
