New guides/ seats no bother.
Cheers Mike, Iāll assess everything when the engine is strippedIām sure youāve had a hunt around,
Meyer bikes do some forged oversized pistons up to iirc 1 mm over.
Pricey but ā¦ā¦
Shout up if you need the rebores doing,
My chap is old school and heās being doing stuff for me for 40 years.
Iād not let anyone else do my barrels.
Bundle them into a tank with a gallon or two of EvaporustCheers Mike, Iāll assess everything when the engine is stripped![]()

Then it wonāt be a matching number R90S, the only parts Iām using are what would have been on the R90S originally, fork stanchions are the same, indicators, wheels and discs , calipers, speedo housing, I have the speedo and tachometer which are fine, housing is worse for wear, starter motor, if the engine covers are better than mine then Iāll use those. Side panels, the wheels will be stripped and the paint removed to match the original R90S colours. Tyres will be replaced with Michelin Classic tyres.I'd be putting stuff on the Donor bike![]()
The log book has red as the colour, itās the same shade as my R90/6, so you could be onto something, Iāve never seen a photo of a red R90S, have changed over the housing from my /6 and built a set of gauges using the original S gauges , the only thing I need are new glass and the rubber surrounds, both of which are available from Motorworks.Your new speedo housing will have the idiot lights in the wrong order for a /6 bike....
Some late R90S bikes came out in non-Daytona/Silver Smoke colours. Are you sure the red is not 'factory'?
Frame is 4093628 as is the engine number, first Reg 1 / 8 / 76 colour on V5 Red / Black.Under the tank you may be able to detect if it is a respray. Also the inside of the side panels, inside faces of the mudguards. If there are any chips to the paintwork you might see an original colour if there was one.
Long shot you could let BMW archives know the VIN number and they might be able to tell you what it left the factory as. Curious, what is the frame number?
If it was a factory red then Iād probably keep it that colour. Iāll have to do some research.Within the last 100 ever produced!
Remember seeing one in Stourbridge in probably 1977 . It was a genuine R90S albeit fitted with Lester wheels , however, it was a dark green/ black paint scheme (very similar to the later R100RT ) , owner said he bought it new from the dealer in those colours
