Barn find R90S

Hit my first problems today, front engine mounting stud siezed in the frame, rear came out with a bit of persuasion. Pneumatic gun saw to that, the engine is rocking on the front one so it’s not siezed in the block. So tight in the frame 3D5E5182-4410-49C0-BB8B-B6D2AD8AE64E.jpeg64E449CC-75DD-49D3-8AC2-7B8675953D58.jpegthat the stud snapped , even tried heat, I think I can get a slicing disc between frame boss and block ( very carefully 😀)
I can then set up the frame on my miller and drill out the remains of the stud.
Second problem is rust damage on the swingarm where the sidecar mount was fitted.
I have a spare so not such a problem.

On the plus side, there'll be very little wear to the rear shocks. Respect for taking on such a demanding project.

The engine bolt is coming out very slowly, I drilled the majority of one side out, warmed the other side frame lug with an oxy acetylene lamp. A couple of spacers and a long Tommy bar and success, albeit vey slowly.7C2448FA-C69D-4135-8B7D-03ADBFEBE26C.jpeg0289D57E-09A2-4BB7-BFF5-955EC9810719.jpeg

Update, I’ve had the frame blasted to assess any rust issues, there are some small dents in one of the frame down tubes where the sidecar mounts were, I’ve brazed them and filed them smooth to blend in, I have a couple more to do and then I’m going to get it powdercoated. The engine is completely stripped and apart from one of the barrels is in good condition, crank is unmarked, I’ve also started rebuilding the wheels, using the wheels off the donor bike.
It’s going to be a long term project, I’m not going to be overly precious with having the exact washers and bolts etc I’m aiming to build a nice rideable R90S in Daytona Orange to keep for my collection.

Bit of Patina and not looking like a Hairdressers Handbag !!

Personally I love a good restoration/rebuild,.....having been a member of the Kawasaki Triples Club fraternity for many years I have witnessed many such transformations

It's incredibly impressive to see a master at work and to witness a project rise from the 'ashes'

Good luck with your restoration, I'm looking forward to seeing it develope as I'm sure it will.
