A few times recently the clock has reset to 00.00 on starting the bike has had some long runs and if left for more than a couple of week has a trickle charger connected,

Am guessing the battery needs to be replaced. Unless you learned members can advise otherwise.

Advice as to what battery and where the best (read cheapest) place to buy one from would be much appreciated

the bike is a 3yr old 1150 adv

Thanks for all serious and not so serious replies.

Mine does that, but only sometimes & only if I start it when it's on the side stand. Centre stand or sat on it it's never done it. Would this be caused by more oil in the lower pot(left) than the top one(right) making it harder to crank? Motorworks did tell me that running 20-50w in winter time would make it harder to crank as well.
Probably talking arse on the first one but I can't think of any other reason why.:nenau

clock reset is a classic sign that the battery is on its way out... possibly (just my guess) due to the load shedding relay diverting all the power to the starter motor... the little power that the rid requires falls too low and pffft!!

3yrs is on the low side for battery life - but not unheard of.
