The other day I turned the motor off with the kill switch leaving the ignition on and forgot..............when I got back to the bike - more than an hour later - and saw that the headlight was on I figured I would be walking home.

No such problem, the bike started jsut as normal. Don't know about you folks but I reckon that that is pretty impressive.

As I have my GPS hooked up via the canbus I am now very confident that I can leave the ignition on and use the GPS without worrying about the battery reserve.
 
Depending on how old your bike is / milage, you might just have been lucky. I did the same in a Norwegian stone quary. After about 40min. the battery was all dead.

These things go bad after a certain time (mine oct 2004 / 73000km)
