Osteopath tells me I need to take a few days off from work to help my my back troubles...so better do as he says !! Weather's fine and forecast is better.
18th September , motorway north from Carlisle , first stop the Green Welly, for much needed toilet and sustenance break
Few nice bikes in attendance. Onto Glencoe, and as usual stunning, sun's out and a joy to drive. Al fresco lunch stop at Ballachulish looking onto Loch Linnhe, bliss.
Onwards to Fort William , held up by cyclists and no overtaking opportunity for tin boxes, so just bide my time and chill.
Fort Augustus then the old Military Road up Loch Ness, with delightful views, and 25 degrees, Inverness for fuel then over the Kessock bridge and Strathpeffer for tonight's accommodation at the Ben Wyviss hotel. 276miles today. Backs twitching a little so remedial beer and ibuprofen seem to do the trick .

Time I check out , sun's try to peep through. A835 to Ullapool, beautiful sweeping road where you can make progress, stopped into Corrieshalloch Gorge, where there's a fancy new visitor centre, take a walk down to the gorge and sweltering in bike kit and only 9.30am
bridge only allows 6 at a time, and for anyone with no head for heights, best give it a miss
trek back and treat myself to a coffee from the cafe, which was really nice ! Next stop Scourie to pick up lunch for another alfresco sitting. Progress was slow due to scenery overload and photo stops, again the temps were mid 20's, no better place to be
After lunch, Durness, Tongue, A836 to Loch Loyal, Loch Naver, then B871 to Kinbrace, onto Helmsdale where the haar was in and temps dropped 5 degrees
fecking coach loads of tourists in, and guides all decked out in kilts and shitz , fight my way through , then pop over to snap the viaduct then back roads to Moy, where I join the dreary A9 towards Killiecrankie, where I stop for coffee and cake
