Beach sand problem ??

Is it true that the beach sand does HUUUUUUGE bad things to our bike and creates many problems to filters and other things ?????

Well I think this answer says it all really;

Φίλε η ψιλή άμμος προκαλεί πολλές φθορές στη μηχανή. Κατ' αρχήν περνάει από το φίλτρο αέρα. Στο Dakar χρησιμοποιούν ειδικά φίλτρα. Χαλάει τις τσιμούχες όπου υπάρχουν (στο μπροστινό, στο πίσω αμορτισέρ, στο διαφορικό και αλλού) όσο και αν αυτές είναι καλυμένες, ΝΑΙ η άμμος πάει παντού. Η αλυσίδα και τα γρανάζια την "μασάνε" συνέχεια και επίσης χαλάνε. Όταν ο τροχός σπινάρει στην άμμο κάνει κανονική αμμοβολή όπου την πετάει.

Well obviously you shouldn't κάνει κανονική αμμοβολή όπου την πετάει, most definately you should not όσο και αν αυτές είναι καλυμένες, ΝΑΙ η άμμος πάει παντού and the χρησιμοποιούν ειδικά φίλτρα. Χαλάει τις τσιμούχες όπου υπάρχουν (στο μπροστινό, στο πίσω αμορτισέρ, στο διαφορικό και αλλού modification sounds like a good idea.

I have years of experience riding in sand, mainly desert sand and in a properly maintained bike it is not a problem. When you say “beach sand” in my mind there are two kinds of “beach sand” namely that which is found along fresh water lakes, streams and rivers and the insidious salt water beach sand found along oceans and seas. I have ridden in wet sand washes in the desert right after a rain and along sandy mountain streams and never had any problems but after riding on the ocean beaches in Mexico I encountered corrosion that was near impossible to stop. Corrosion would show up years later in the most inaccessible areas even after judicious applications of fresh water and WD-40. Salt water (and sand) and motorcycles are not compatible, you are asking for trouble.
