Trying to put a little jaunt together to do the Pass and looking for advice.

I'm looking at a run back end of April early May for a 4 day jaunt, setting of from Yorkshire, as well as the Pass of the cattle, what else would you lads recommend....Roads to ride....Sights to see....Routes ?....Oh and I'll be camping so any recommends on sites would be much appreciated.

Cheers lads.

So Yorkshire to Fort Augustus via Glencoe, campsites in Fort Aug, F. Augustus to Ullapool via Bealach/Applecross...good campsite in Ullapool, Ullapool to Durness...fit in Lochinver if you can(pie shop).....campsite in Durness, Durness to Yorkshire via Laxford Bridge & Lairg (big day but do-able).

Too much?

Yorkshire to Glencoe..campsites, Glencoe to Applecross via Fort W, Invergarry, Shiel Bridge, camp Applecross, Applecross to Granton on Spey via Torridon, Kinlochewe, Achnasheen Inverness, Cawdor..must be a campsite near Granton?..Granton to Yorkshire via Tomintoul, Braemar, Blairgowrie Perth, main roads home.

Could be an option, keep an eye on it

Don't know the Borders area but once north of the central belt its easy to find good roads, search for suggestions, plenty been made here
I would decide which roads you really want to ride then just link them.

So, ones to include: Spean Bridge to Kyle; over the pass to Applecross; Torridon to Gairloch; over the Lecht to Braemar and on past Glenshee

Campsites - plenty. Cool campsites is a god site, if limited

I am also headin up that way on a 6 day tour with some mates and am starting from Yorkshire on 14th May
I have done the trip a few times now and have fine tuned my route up and back taking in some great roads. If you want to PM me your E mail address i can send you Garmin routes that i use (if you use garmin)

The owner of the Strathcarron Hotel is more than happy to let people camp in his field opposite the Hotel and it is a good base for the Pass and the Isle of Skye.

Drop Box link to the garmin files here

Almost the perfect time to go too - you have a remote chance of staying dry and it's well before the midges arrive. Some of the best biking in Europe if you get the weather - it's even good in the wet. Fort William to Applecross is an epic ride - enjoy:thumby:

Cheers lads for all the helpful advice....some great food for thought on routes.

pm on it's way redrick :thumby:

Mr Timothy....it's all your fault I'm fecking going there. Can't have you and that Barsteward doing the Pass and rubbing mi nose in it :rob:P

Definitely try to take in Skye also, last year was my first time there and already looking forward to going back in July. The Quiraing is a stunning part of the area to ride

If you have the time and are near.....
Head to Lochcarron for April 25, then ride the Bealach on Sunday (26th) morning to join us in Applecross for the CHAS rendezvous. Noon and after at the Applecross Inn.
Make yourself known please!

If you got tents and need a stop in either direction near Edinburgh I've plenty of space in the garden. Next to a river and no real neighbours to speak of. Plus a few pubs 10 mins walk away. Might even wait for you to pass and tag on!

From Huddersfield I used to go via Halifax to Tan hill then a route that winds through country lanes passing near the Hartside Cafe, up near the A7 around Hawick finishing up just south of Edinburgh. Unfortunately I have it as a Tom Tom route so no good to Garmin user's.

You reckon?! It took me longer to do the route on TYRE than it would to ride it! Not technically minded, I'll have a go though.

Been out changing a few bits on the route today around Bewcastle, managed to get it from a section of road with 7 gates and two slippery fords to one gate and a ford that is quite dry at the moment. Problem is TYRE route mapping is pretty good, however the Tomtom interprets in its own way. For example The Old Tweed bridge is closed and TYRE/google know that, however tomtom maps don't so keeps trying to divert that way, as you can't it considers you haven't been to the waypoint and try's to send you back!
