Bean can issues

Not on camille she's not got one. I've been trying to find what's wrong with Bertha and with help from my mate daz we've narrowed the problem down to the hall sensor in the bean can. Is it possible to replace the sensor or does anyone offer a recon service cos the cost of a new can is silly.
The sad thing is the can was new a couple of years ago and has done very little since then.

I'm sure I've seen a thread on Advrider about modern replacements for these infamous cans. I'll try and find it.

Certain types of ignition coils are known weak points as well.

There is a thread on ADV old school on replacing the sensor - it is a standard Honeywell item which costs around 10 quid in electronic stores.

The original is riveted to the base plate, so the rivets have to be drilled out and replaced with self tappers, looks a bit tricky but worth a try.

I read somewhere that the Boyer ignition which is made to fit the points bean can can be made to fit the sensor can too- they are a third of the coat of the alternatives , so are still viable even if you fit them to a cheap points can, if you can find one.

I had a problem with mine. Turned out I'd trapped the cable running to the bean can between the cover and the casing and broke a wire.

just a thought cause they are usually pretty reliable - especially if its new?

Replaced cans on mine and JustStans . Got a sensor of Rob Farmer to repair one.
